Nomar is in talks with the A's for a backup 1B/3B role. I would think the Cubs could offer the same role with the added bonus of a more likely postseason appearance

nomar

would be a great backup for aramis but this guy is just injured too much.i doubt the cubs would want him after all the games he missed with us. i believe he only played 55 games last year.

Well he played over 120 games each of the previous two

I think the Cubs are thinking about trading for something else

There will be players available in this grouping

Betemit Switch hitter

Barmes bats right handed

Mietkoiewiez bats left handed

Teahan bats left handed

Hall bats RH

Branyon

other players of note are Brendan Harris and now Mark Loretta

with the signings of Crede to the Twins and Hudson to LAD. But both bat RH’d

Moreover....

… as much as I like him and wish he were a Cub, the A.L. is better suited for him. Provided his health holds up, not only could he be a back up infielder but he could DH as well.

I think Oakland has plenty of DHs already

The article mentions the A’s are pursuing him as a backup 1B/3B, they already have Cust/Giambi/Barton to play DH/1B

Nomar's from California...

….and with him and Mia having twin girls a year and a half ago, and at this point in his career, I’m thinking this is probably a no-brainer for him to stay close to home. Some things supersede a chance to win a championship.

He still

would be a good fit here. I just see him getting a ton of AB’s, Ramy will not sit many games, Lee won’t either. Running Nomar out a SS is iffy at best.
Still would be neat to get him here.

Good Add

Agree with most previous posts, he would add something. He is a hustle and character guy, and you can never have too many of those.

That's shitastic!

I think Nomar

would be a nice addition, but i just don’t see it in the cards. and Ivy, i’m not sure i see many of those guys being available. Branyon signed with seattle and is pegged as their starting 1B i believe. I’ve been a big supporter of getting Teahen, but now that hudson signed with LA i think the royals will see if i can play 2B, plus hes their insurance policy everywhere else. I haven’t heard anything nor do i know much about barmes. Mientkiewicz would make no sense, hes not that great a hitter with poor power. Betemit could be the interesting one, but i feel like the Sox hold on to him for insurance, should Fields not work out at 3B and the young cuban kid isnt ready yet.
