What's the Cubs' Record on your Birthday?
Since I sprained my ankle playing basketball and have nothing to do all day I got curious. What is the Cubs record on my birthday?
I started counting from the year I was born which is 1985 (The Cubs lost this day). My record is 7-13. That includes 3 off days and the strike.
I've been a member here since 2006 so if this was covered already, sorry. I'm not sure if this should have been put under fanshots but if it belongs there and you can move it, Al, please move it.

17-17
That’s the Cubs’ July 20 record since 1973. The 1977 All-Star Break kept the Cubs from playing on July 20. The 1981 strike wiped out another July 20 game. The Cubs lost on July 20, 2005, to the Reds, 9-3, in Cincinnati. Kerry Wood got hurt in that game. That’s the only time I’ve seen the Cubs in person on my birthday.

Interesting enough, since 1956 the Cubs have only played 9 games on 4/3. I can say that I have been to 2 of these and they’ve gone 2-0, including last year’s win against the Brewers.

If your birthday falls outside the normal 6-month baseball season...
…consider adding 6 months to your birthday and adopting that as your “Cubs birthday”. For example, if your birthday is today (Feb 4), then your Cubs birthday would be six months from now (Aug 4).
And for you BCBers born in early to mid-October, you have the option of switching to April if you want a bigger sample size… ;-)

September 29 - good idea B&I.....
…..nice way to spend my lunch today although I got pretty sick of it by the time I got to my birth year.
So, sad to say my overall record since 1980 is one game under .500 @ 11-12. There were a handful of seasons with no games on September 29 and a shortened season.
The Cubs went up 3-2 in the top of th 7th only to give up the tying run to the Phillies in the bottom half. They stayed tied 3-3 until the top of the 15th when Len Randle (pinch running) scored from 3rd on a sac fly to CF by Scott Thompson. They tacked on another run before heading to the bottom half. Doug Capilla went in to pitch the bottom of the 15th and promptly gave up 2 walks and a wild pitch. He was replaced by Dennis Lamp who then gave up 3 runs (2 charged to Capilla) on 3 singles and a walk to give the Phillies a 6-5 win.

Well, you're right.
It didn’t take that long. Using my “Cubs birthday” as defined above, their record on that date since I was born is 26-19.

Sept 3
13-20 since 1973.
Last year’s Sept 3 was was brutal. The Cubs built up a 4 game losing streak and were in danger of being swept by the Astros at home. My wonderful girlfriend gets us two seats right be hing Home plate. First row, a section away from the pink hat guy. Absolutely amazing. Dempster is starting and I hoping to see him shut down the Astros and beak the losing skid. Instead I saw Randy #$% Wolf pitch a complete game shutout giving up 6 hits with 8 strikeouts. Cubs lose 4-0. It was still fantastic to get to sit there, but I wish I could have seen a better game.

The Cubs are 8-7 on my birthday....
with 1 strike year, 1 off day, and 1 cancellation due to September 11th.
I’ve been to a Cubs game three times on my birthday and they were three of the most unforgettable games ever
1. September 14, 2003…..My first ever time in the Bleachers. Cubs lost 1-0, but boy was it fun. Sometimes, the most memorable games don’t end with a W flag hanging high above the corner of Waveland and Sheffield.
2. September 14, 2004……Corey Patterson delivered twice. A home run to tie the game in the 8th, and a home run to win the game in the 12th. Cubs Win, 3-2 over the Pirates.
3. September 14, 2008…..I think we all remember this one. In the words of Pat Hughes “Swing and a miss. No-Hitter! No-Hitter! Carlos Zambrano with a no-hitter.” Cubs Win 5-0

14-6 go Cubs on my bday
June 2nd the Cubs have been 14-6 since 1988 and have had only one off day! Also had the famous Lou blowup against the Braves i think it was? that then turned the season around in ’07!!!

Great idea for a time waster
Since May 1st, 1985, the Cubs have gone 12 – 10. Last year’s sucked for the Cubs, as KButler said, because Wood blew a save to give up the victory. But, last year’s sucked worse for the Brewers, that was the day Gallardo went out for most of the season. I was there, it wasn’t pretty.
On a side note, that was also the day that Fielder collided with Soto during a play at the plate. Unfortunately, I was getting food at the time, so I missed it. Since I wasn’t watching, I can only assume there were seismic shocks.

Alright, alright, I give!
My Cubs birthday (shifted from 11/26/69) is 5/26/69. And my record is a fairly ghastly 15-21.
The most interesting game I found? This one from 2003, in which Kerry Wood pitched 7 innings of one hit, one run baseball against the Pirates – with 10 Ks! – only to sit in the dugout and watch that team’s motley crew of a bullpen surrender NINE MORE RUNS (while the Cubs bats did nothing) for a 10-0 loss. Brutal.
Definitely an interesting exercise – I found the inner geek in me coming out as I rooted for each year to be a win.

but I’m back for more. My record is pretty good 21-13 (as stated yesterday) But here is a cool tidbit I just discovered. The day I was born (at Northwestern hospital on Addison and Central) Billy Williams hit 2 home runs and the Cubs blasted the Padres 10 – 1. It was Billy Williams 34th birthday, June 15, 1972!

Haven't had time
Haven’t had time to put it together but the Cubs did sweep a DH the day I was born coming from behind in both games (july 7, 1968). My maternal grandparents were at the DH and came home to find out they had a new granddaughter. The scorecard ticket stubs and the game story from the Trib are in my baby book.

The Cubs are 0-0 on my brother’s birthday but on his 13th birthday in 1992 they suffered a huge loss as it was the day Maddux signed with he Braves. He said he had the worse loss of all.

This is actually a good one.
I had to look this up. The first Cub younger than me was Bill Hayes, a catcher who made his ML debut on September 30, 1980. He played in all of 5 major league games.
The last year there were major leaguers OLDER than me was 1998 — Dennis Eckersley, Paul Molitor, Dennis Martinez and Danny Darwin all retired at the end of that year.
The first major league manager younger than me was Terry Francona, when he got the Phillies job in 1997.
There! Have fun with those categories.

I used to do this will all major leaguers
For a long time, there were three I could count on – two of which were left-handed relievers (go figure…). But Jesse Orosco retired in 2003, followed by John Franco in 2005. And then I was down to one…
The day Julio Franco retired was the day I came face to face with my own mortality… [shudder]
