Saturday Name That Cub
Many of the recent posts in this series have been from the 1960's. Your only clue to this one is that it's not from that decade.

No, Barrett would have been too well-known.

Here's a young Barrett, signing an autograph.

Color Photo
It’s a good photo, not faded, has to be early 80’s if I had to guess. Don’t have a clue as to who he is though
It's not Steve Macko
Macko was an infielder for the Chicago Cubs who played briefly in 1979 and 1980. He died November 15, 1981, of cancer. He was 27 years old. Macko was a native of Burlington, Iowa.

I heard that during the 07 season while watching Sportsrise one morning. I rewound w/ tivo four or five times to make sure I heard it correctly.

DINGDINGDING!!!
Winner.
Bill Johnson came to the Cubs in the Dick Ruthven deal (for Willie Hernandez). He made 14 relief appearances in 1983 and 1984 and then vanished. IIRC he had some injury problems; at one point he was considered a pretty good pitching prospect.

It was probably that skiing he did between the '83 and '84 seasons that led to his exit from baseball... ;-)

Oddly enough, both of these Bill Johnsons were born in 1960.

Gotta be Maddux
The pic looks similar to the rookie cards and minor cards I have for my son.
It's not Maddux.
It’s Bill Johnson. See above for the winner.

WOW
Funny, it looks almost like him when he was young. LOL, guess I need to check with Veryzer about those glasses.
