MLB TV Premium
Does anyone have any experience with this service? I live in Michigan and want to be able to see all the games. I have a computer hooked up to my TV and would like to know how the "High Quality" feeds look. I have a 56" TV that the computer is hooked to. Last year I had a computer in Chicago that had ORB installed to stream the games, but I had a lot of issues with quality and buffering. Any input would be appreciated.

I did the free 1 week trials...
It worked very well. I have Appletv, and could send it to my flat screen that way. It looked good, and the 6 game at once feature was nice so you could decide which game was getting interesting and go to that game.
If your computer specs match or exceed what the rec’d on their website, you should be fine.
I am a Mac guy though, so I can’t speak for any PC issues.

I also have an Apple TV...
…how did you send games to the TV that way? I’m assuming you hacked it somehow?
Being in England, it’ll be a lot nicer watching on my TV then on the computer…

I had MLB.TV Premium 2 years ago
and the quality on my pc was very good, though I never hooked it up to my TV. I now have a laptop with much higher tech specs, so I’m not going to hesitate about signing up this year.

With around 60 free games a year
on WGN, plus the occasional Fox/ESPN/MLB Channel Cubs game, it doesn’t make sense for me to pay for MLB tv to get an additional 80 or so games. For $15 I can get Pat and Ron on my computer or my iPhone for those games not on TV in San Diego.
You should look at the Cubs Club
which doesn’t offer a lot but for 4 more dollars you get the MLB audio and some benefits ( a sticker, a card and a chance to buy tickets, along with interactive cameras which you can see Wrigley before the games.)
I’ve used MLB.tv for several years now and have enjoyed it thoroughly. I first started with it in 2004 and have renewed each year since, looking forward to trying it through my HDTV this year and seeing how that works. If its not great then next year i might switch to EI
Tough to say right now
Last year, the High Quality feeds required Silverlight to be installed on your computer in order for them to work. The Silverlight feeds tended to have a lot of blocky artifacting on my and my neighbors computers, did not actually go to a “full” full screen when that was selected, and you could not go full screen on a second monitor. Because of that, I just settled for the 800kbps WMP feeds, which looked adequate when displayed on my 30" LCD TV.
According to MLB.com’s service FAQ page, it looks like MLB.TV will be completely Adobe Flash driven this year, with new 3000kbps “HD Quality” feeds for those with Internet connections that can handle it. The picture quality should be better than what Silverlight provided, but it may now be impossible to go full screen on one monitor while working on another one (as Flash normally toggles off full screen mode after any keystroke or mouse click). That might be a big problem for me.
Thanks alot everyone
for your input. I think I am going to subscribe to it this year. From what it looks like, it will definitely be better quality then my ORB streams. Also, according the the system requirements, it is a 720p stream, which is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks again for all the input!
you could also wait to see what FREE stuff they offer at the beginning of the year
usually a week or so trial at the beginning of the year to show you what you should pay for.
