WBC Tickets are outrageous
I was thinking about going to one of the WBC Finals games at Dodger Stadium until I saw the prices. Most of the games I've watched so far have been played in stadiums 60-70% empty. I'm sure the Finals will draw more, but these prices are about what the Dodgers charged for the NLCS. Maybe if the US plays Mexico they'll sell out; otherwise, in a bad economy, they'll have a hard time.

Agreed
I was considering making the first round trip to Toronto. The ridiculous cost of tix as well as the fact that the games took place over the course of so many days was the end of that thought.

The stadiums are incredibly empty to, I mean they can't fill an entire tier

well Dolphins stadium is a terrible venue for baseball regardless

cold weather cities
I wonder if it would be a better idea, at least for the early rounds, to play the games in cold weather cities w/ indoor stadiums. A city like Milwaukee or Minneapolis might draw well as there aren’t a ton of outdoor alternatives and the citizenry may appreciate some baseball.

I was thinking the same thing watching the USA vs NETH game this afternoon.
I think Milwaukee has shown their support of baseball.
When the Indians and Angels were relocated to Milwaukee, with just a day’s notice, thousands of people came to watch teams with no affiliation to Milwaukee. And with the proximity to Chicago, Milwaukee seems a great candidate for the WBC.
Florida is a bad location for either MLB or WBC baseball. Since MLB baseball has been a failure in that state up to this point (in terms of fan support), why would they think the WBC would be successful?
Hey, it's a new century!

+1
you could add Seattle to that list, and possibly include some other cities without a MLB team that have good AA and AAA fans if there is a stadium they can play in, like San Antonio, Portland, and Round Rock (just north of Austin, TX) all have good baseball fan bases. Putting the higher talent in someof the minor league cities (if there is a venue large enough) would be a great thing IF you are truly trying to “promiote the sport”

They wouldn't want to play...
… in cold weather cities without domes in March.
San Antonio might have been a good choice, but I agree with the Milwaukee/Minneapolis/Seattle idea.
And the ticket prices being playoff prices was a really, really bad idea.

I know there would need to be a dome up north
it was just ideas and thoughts, and I was nto sure if there was anywhere in Portland with a dome to play, but wanted to throw their name in the hat.

That is a great idea
so youd have Minn, Mil and Seattle to choose from…..I wouldve imagined Houston would have been a better fit for this round than Miami, less seats, weather proof, large latino population

There's a large Latino population in Miami, too.

Evidently...
…these MLB teams have forgotten the whole supply and demand principle of economics. It’ll be funny to see Dodger Stadium’s turnout if teams like Korea or Cuba wind up playing Venezuela or Puerto Rico.

The semifinals in San Diego...
…are a little bit better but still a lot more than what the Padres charge for even their “premium games”.
BTW, I bought 4 tickets to the Padres home opener. The total of all the stupid “service charges” and “order charge” could have bought a 5th ticket — and I can’t forget about PETCO Park’s $20 parking lots — Absolute crap!! They wonder why average families have a tough time going to ballgames.

It's still out of control
No chance am I going to pay that much to go to Dodger Stadium especially since I have no idea who will be playing. At least when the Cubs are in town I get to see 4 games for $50 and am guaranteed to see the team I WANT to see. They even win most of the time (12-2 at games I’ve attended!).

Before November...
…. because that’s when they let you sign up for presales.
