Cubs-Yankees - Who Got Tickets?

I'm in - received confirmation of tickets for the Saturday game.  I put down Friday as first choice, so am just curious whether anyone else got bumped to a different date or rejected.  No word yet on the location of the tickets.

In any event, very happy to be able to go and appreciate the Cubs offering these to season ticket holders.  This will be a historic occasion, and I am looking forward to watching the Cubs christen the place in style.

I'm a buyer, too

My email address is in my profile.

I’m waiting for the random-drawing email from the Yankees which will arrive Friday.

Is this a season ticket holder thing?

I signed up for tickets on the Yankees website, but haven’t heard anything from them, or about any other opportunities. If I’m reading this right, was this a Cubs season-ticket-holder-only thing?

by bobq on Mar 18, 2009 6:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yes

A limited number of tickets were offered to Cubs season ticket holders.

See above for the drawing info.

You’ll be notified on Friday.

Rejected

I requested two seats to either game and they responded with this:

Thank you for your interest in the Cubs vs. Yankees ticket offer. I am sorry to inform you that due to the overwhelming response generated by the ticket offer, we will not be able to fulfill your request. The number of tickets requested so far has far exceeded the allotment given to us by the New York Yankees. If you would like to attempt to obtain tickets for these games through the New York Yankees, please click on this link and you will be directed to a page on the New York Yankee website that will provide instructions on how to sign up for an online registration. You must sign up before 10:00 PM EST on 3/17 to be eligible.

Now that I see others got what they wanted, I’m even more disappointed.

Rejected as well....

Got the same message as above.

And still waiting on my season tickets to arrive. Most years they are delivered by now…. Anyone else?

Got the same thing.

Oh well. I’ll save some money not heading out there.

Mine haven't arrived either

And I’ve called and left messages for my new ticket rep. He never responds.

That's surprising.

I’ve contacted my season ticket rep several times by email and he’s always responded promptly.

You can email a Cubs ticket rep at:

I've got his e-mail

And his direct line, but he never responds. My old rep was great. She was very responsive. This one might as well not even be there. Even when I left him numerous voice mails in an effort to pay my season ticket balance over the phone, he wouldn’t return my calls. I finally had to have someone else help me.

I did receive an automated e-mail this afternoon that my season tickets shipped out today.

You should contact Frank Maloney...

… and let him know that your rep is unresponsive. At the very least, he could assign you to a different rep.

Timing

I put in my request as soon as I saw the email given the warning of “first come first served”. I think that was about an hour or so after it was actually sent, though.

Have not heard this.

But really, how different are today’s Yankee uniforms from those of, say, the 1930’s?

I have

tickets for the Friday night game. Flying in on Thursday and staying with some friends from school in the Bronx.

Really, really looking forward to it. I’ve been all atwitter for weeks now.

Snagged

A couple from a connection with season tickets at the Stadium. Are we all brave enough to wear our Cubs gear? Its an exhibition game, how vicious can the Bronx Zoo be for an exhibition game, right?

I wore Cubs gear when I went there for the series in 2005.

Yankee fans were friendly and knowledgeable and we talked baseball the whole time. I’d wear Cubs gear there any time.

The fact that they swept the series probably made them happier, though.

My experiences with Yankee fans

have been similar. I ran into a few in Toronto last year when the Cubs were there and they were just there being baseball fans. Like you said, friendly and knowledgable. It seemed they were just happy we weren’t Red Sox fans.

That's pretty high up in the LF corner.

There are 23 rows in that section. But at least you’re in the park.
