Padres sale "almost" done
Looks like the Padres are about to have a new owner take over. Funny how quickly this happened compared to the Cubs' transaction.
Interesting how Sandy Alderson is stepping down as CEO -- Will Crane Kenney follow suit???

More interesting will be...
… whether the Padres stop their fire sales and start rebuilding.
This sale happened faster because it wasn’t nearly as complicated and didn’t require financing.

Padres had some advantages in their sale
to name a few (to my knowledge, if I am wrong, please correct me)
owner going thru a dovorce
corporation not in bankruptcy court
owner not trying to avoid capital gaines tax
owner selling is not Billions of Dollars in debt with a dying industry

dovorce = divorce

Tribune was not in bancruptcy...
…court when they put the team up for sale @ the start of the ’07 season

Surprising.....
that the first four posts here did not mention a certain starting pitcher who may or may not be available now that the Padres deal is complete, and the Cubs deal is supposedly very close. Well, I’m not going to be the first to mention it.

Does it start with a P
i.e. Mark Prior?

Jake Peavy is going nowhere once new ownership is in place
They won’t trade him. Not unless somebody like a Boston comes a calling and offers up a mega-talent on the cusp of the major leagues like Hanley Ramirez a few years ago.
Well, I guess that's that then.
Thank you for officially putting five months of rumors to rest, Mr. Towers.
