Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Publicity stunt or legitimate baseball decision? I only wish there were some video of her in action...if only Dragonfantastic were still around.

Jackie Mitchell

She doesn’t have anything on Jackie Mitchell, who struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on a combined seven pitches in an exhibition game between the Chattanooga Lookouts and New York Yankees in 1931.

Or Erin Andrews

She inspires so much offense just by being posted online.

Yes, but unlike Mitchell...

this woman is being required to wear a uniform while pitching.

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

I'm searching for.....

the other without one.

I didn't get the players I wanted in the offseason!! Hopefully I get what I want in the Regular Season---The World Series Trophy!! Go Cubbies!!

Very cool.

I think I posted a Fanshot about her when she was signed. So she walked the first guy and then K’d the second? Doesn’t sound all that different from Chad Gaudin’s outings lately. GIT ’ER DONE, JIMBO!

YouTube clip...

right here. (Jump ahead to around 1:40 to see her windup and delivery.)

Here’s another one with a better view of her delivery. (Let’s just say it’s funkier than James Brown at the Apollo.)

And here’s one of her in some sort of yellow safety vest warming up and then playing. And then some footage of her introduction to the media.

One more.

For some reason...

…I just pictured Aramis screwing himself into the ground swinging at one of those.

Al, can you email dragonsfanatic and see if he's still around?

I assume you have access to his email. I’m very curious to see what he thinks about Dome and his chances of turning it around this year. He offered some great insight and I wish he was still around here. But I can understand if he wanted to disappear – it just happened to coincide with Kosuke’s incredible fall from grace.

He's still around

he posted here very briefly a few weeks ago. He’s not gone completely.

He last posted here on January 24...

… regarding Ken Kadokura, the Japanese pitcher the Cubs brought to camp.

If he doesn’t return to posting soon, with Dome’s return to the team, I’ll email him.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
