How long should we give Santoswoodenlegs at fanposting?

Alright, while I personally think santoswoodenlegs will resume his significant, relevant and extemely funny body of work, I am concerned that he is losing his edge as evidenced by his recent fanposts. Will he ever return to the type of poster the BCBers imagined him always to be. I've stated here before why I think SWL will always exceed our expectations in the blogosphere, but his god awful personal attacks on an unassuming, always amiable and insight poster, which doesn't allow him time to photoshop and otherwise create the witty comments we've come to expect make me wonder. When he does post, it's nothing like we're used to and, at times, comes out of LF, or is less original. (His last two fanposts said basically word for word the same thing, so, to whoever may say I don't have a "trained eye", you can read them yourselves and tell me if you think you need a trained eye to see what I mean!).

Anyway, having said that, I think that maybe if he is still struggling after this week, he needs to have his fanposts moved down in the sidebar, to fanshots at the very least and maybe even be limited to the comments section. I would put dat cubfan daver , who I have much more confidence in lately, and I imagine Al would too, in his place to shake things up and he would be a photoshop and satire guy as well.

Not at all saying this after a tough couple of days and is in no way a knee jerk reaction, but even the staunchest SWL fan must admit his struggles in the last day or two and maybe it's due to the pressures of writing fresh content, or we have made the adjustment to him and our expectations are too high. Without a break, I don't see any signs of him being able to return to funny, satirical posts that are not exactly the same as his last ones.

How long until someone accuses SWL of decline, like DLee, or regression to the mean, like Theriot, if he continues his struggles at fanposts?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Everbody has slumps

It’s up to SWL to break out of it though. SWL, if you don’t break out of your slump in one week, we might have to trade you to Brew Crew Ball.

It's only

four posts, I repeat only four. Nothing to panic about. So one blown post does not mean all the rest will be blown.

So some of the posts have swung and missed at hitting the humor. I am confident SWL will rebound to even greater posts. Don’t jump just yest.

Dat's

right Jack. Come on, really does anyone really believe that SWL was going to have 160 good posts and only two bad ones?

People calm down. True talent will rise to the occasion.

This all stems from Al....

always sticking up for the roles of the veteran posters. Sure, he brought BCB to the next level, including over 1K comments on the opening day thread, but when is it time for the regime change? I know Al has a guaranteed adviser position lined up at “Pinstripe Alley” after his contract is up at BCB…

Anyone else hear Lous interview
Lou Piniella had little patience with a radio reporter’s question after the SWL’s post. Piniella was asked if he thought SWL needed to stop making posts on BSB

“What are you talking about, no more SWL posts?” Piniella shot back. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Then who posts in his place? This would further deplete the roster of posters You manage that way, you’ll be fired about a month into the season.”

I think Santo's posts are intended to be humorous, but...

…they probably reflect more accurately how Lou manages. Apparently Lou must have a Doghouse Bulletin Board that gets updated each game, possibly in-game as well. Gregg has a bad outing—a chance to redeem himself last night? Not on your life—Doghouse!!!!! The 2nd series of the season and it seems to me that Lou is already pissed and panicky, it’s no wonder this team chokes under him and will likely continue to do so.

Rec'd!

It’s amazing how the nervous nellies crawl out of the wood work when something goes wrong DURING A ONE HUNDRED SIXTY TWO GAME REGULAR SEASON!

Then there’s the infamous, “how long should we give Domer…” post the other day. Boy does that sound like a proclamation. How’s that one looking now?

And another thing: How long should “WE” give someone, like we matter to what’s being done in the front office, in the club house or in the dugout. Yeah, right. It was once said, ‘If you make moves to appease the fans soon you’ll be sitting with them’.

This is not SWL's fault

There is no question he is the team’s #1 photo poster but longer satire is not something he can do.Much as I like Al , I have to agree with others that most of the blame falls on him. If had signed, traded or brought up better satirists, SWL would not have felt pressure to try something he is ill equiped for. I don’t know if it was too many Jimmy John’s sandwiches or spreading himself too thin by doing TWO books in addition to BCB but Al took his eye off the ball and tried to use SWL too often. So before SWL’s typing fingers fall off and we have to put him on the DL, I think Al needs to find someone else to step to the plate and become a middle-late innings satire specialist.

I think it would be helpful to look at the numbers.

6.02 × 10^23
2.71828
867-5309
FF (only in hexadecimal)

So as you can see, SWL’s lack of performance early this season is directly in line with the slow starts he has gotten off to in the past few years. Looking at his RIDING-CROP (a stat that I devised that is better than WHIP, trust me on this), I suspect he will settle down with a few more appearances and we can expect him to be in top form by May, barring any wrist injuries. The only thing that concerns me is his ratio of TBKs to GOTO, fo SHO.

Since he has 15 IPS, which (using Dolby’s equalizations) still gives him a MI-6 in the top 13.728642% of the league, I expect his AMC to normalize and we should see a decline in XFL resulting in a career year for Mr. Woodenlegs. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say his THX at the end of the regular season will be somewhere around 1138.

And that’s why everybody wants a piece of the action. (Everybody needs a main attraction.)

I left my clever sig line in my other pants.
