Such an awesome catch

Top 10 play of the year? I could see it.

With all due respect to Milton Bradley:

There is no chance in hell he makes this catch.

I still hope he is just day-to-day. No need to be too worried…. yet.

Kosuke Fukudome doesn't make that catch, either.

Robodome might make it

but Reed makes it look routine and easy.

Classy move by Fielder for tipping his helmet to Reed, truly sad (and classless) move by the Brewer fans for cheering Reed being beaned.

As cool as Prince's tip o' the cap was

the bean was the exact opposite. Reed’s “You’re throwing him out, right? Right?” look told the story.

The Brewer fan caught behind the plate applauding is the definition of asshole. And, yes, I’d be just as angry if a Cub pitcher hit a Brewer player for making a spectacular play; you just don’t do that.

Agreed. I was watching with a Brewer fan buddy of mine and he didn't think much of it, either

That’s why I have an issue with the Brewers. I realize it’s a minority of the fan base, but it’s a damn vocal one.

had it been Cinci

I bet the bean doesnt happen, and the fans do not applaude as loud if a bean does happen.

tasteless IMO. and it is sad that a few Brewer fans show such little class, since many are respectful.

I'm not sure that it was intentional

But I agree that the roar that went up would not have happened against another team.

All I can say is...

…if Macha called for RJ to get hit, he’s going down the same road as his illustrious predecessor, Ned Yost. And this is actually good news for the Cubs: Piling ridiculous distractions such as beanball wars on this largely young, pitching-poor team is only going to hurt them.

No kidding.

Major respect to Reed for being a man, though. He would have had all the justification in the world to charge the mound or, at the very least, audibly protest.

I have to think if it was on purpose that:

1) Julio acted on his own
2) It’s been “addressed” internally

The Brewer organization is not classless, despite a few vocal fans.

Well, not sure who was first, but I'd say there were many more in the modern era....

…stadiums in the old days had outfield walls so high there wasn’t even that possibility.

I think of Griffey and Torri Hunter first when it comes to this subject.

Last night's was, because...

… it saved three runs and won the game. Last year’s was just a highlight, because the Cubs lost that game.

This is the problem with following games on Gameday.

I had no idea that play happened until my clock radio went off this morning and I heard Judd Sirrott’s call on WGN. I’m speechless. I agree with Al and others – that play was (someway, somehow) better than RJ’s astounding catch last season because it was more meaningful.

And, in all fairness, kudos to Prince Fielder for having the class to tip his cap to Reed.

You can call me "20K."

Eh, just the nature of my life.

We have only one TV, so I try and be reasonable and let my wife watch her shows while I either listen to games on the radio while I’m doing other stuff or follow the games on Gameday while we’re watching stuff together.

I’ve been DVRing games to watch the highlights afterward, but our DVR schedule was full last night. I desperately tried to find some highlights after the game but couldn’t find a thing on CSN, ESPN or even MLB Network.

You can call me "20K."

Reed Johnson just made himself memorable

The first catch made his name ring a bell 15 years from now, this last one and I dont think I’ll ever forget his time with the Cubs. Furthermore, I’ll always remember his full throttle effort on every play. I’m glad he’s a part of this team.

Prince

Kudos for the classy doff of the cap. (I’m guessing that’s who/what RJ was pointing to?)
He’s one of those guys that makes you get physically scared whenever he bats, just like with Albert. The difference is, I hate Albert and, try as I might, I just cannot hate Prince.

I’m with you but I think I hate Prince and instead cannot hate Albert. It was classy of Prince but all that was for not when RJ got beaned in the back.

After the robbed Hr this quote from Major League popped into my head...

“Oh no, no. Too high, it’s too high”

Ross Farmer as he watches a homerun from the opposing team sail into the stands.

That was a moonshot. The camera angle made it look like it was going to end up in the parking lot. I was surprised to Reed still going back on the ball.

we have one of the best outfields in the league. Especially if Fuku keeps hitting the ball like he does, how are we going to fit more or Reed into the lineup?

I tried editing it.

Once you make a fanshot with a YouTube embed code, as he did, you can’t go back and re-edit to just put a link in. The cubs.com link doesn’t have an embed code (at least I couldn’t find one). If anyone can find that code, please let me know.

Freakin’ sweet. And the look he gives Fielder is priceless.

TO ANY REALPLAYER owners:

If you have the RealPlayer software (I used to) I’d recommend you go to the cubs.com link posted above and download it to your computer (You hover your mouse over the video and a link that says ‘download this video’ will appear).

After doing so, upload it to a website that will allow you to embed it like photobucket or other sites like that.

I’d do this and re-download realplayer but I have too much media software on my computer.
