Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Nice to see those pics of him behind bars!!! Also, it's a good thing they raised his bail because he's obviously a flight risk. Apparently he cried in the court room during the hearing -- poor baby!

Too late for tears

I'm not defening the guy who drove drunk and murdered these people

but I would also like to see if Adenhart and his friends were drinking as well. I want to know all the facts before I believe the one-sided media story in favor of the athlete. Like I said, I’m not defending the guy for his incredibly dumb actions, but I don’t feel like I have all the information.

They weren't drinking

They came from the ballpark.

Even if they were drinking --

The guy 3 times the legal limit, who was going 65 in a 35, while driving on a suspended licence for a prior DUI, and running for his life after he broadsided another car seems to be the bad guy here.

by jerry morales rules on Apr 14, 2009 1:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Umm....where to begin?

that point, as one would say — is moot.

The Adenhart vehicle was proceeding through the intersection legally. The alleged drunk driver ran a red light, slamming into the vehicle driven by Adenhart’s friend, which was said to be travelling at or below the posted speed limit.

3 are dead, 1 is still hospitalized. Your point is irrelevant and beyond the pale.

There’s no question who is at fault. There is no reason for law enforcement to autopsy the female driver for her BAC.

Your point is irrelevant and beyond the pale.

by San Diego Smooth Jazz Man on Apr 13, 2009 11:13 PM CDT reply actions

I totally agree.

The perp’s blood alcohol level was 3 times the legal limit, he was driving on a suspended license, at nearly twice the speed limit, ran a red light, and ran away from the scene.

He murdered three people and should rot in jail the rest of his life. Inside, he’ll have plenty of time and reasons for tears.

by Clark Addison on Apr 13, 2009 11:22 PM CDT reply actions

They were on their way

to a club, so I figure it’s safe to assume that they weren’t drinking, though they probably had plans to. The driver of Adenhart’s car was obeying traffic laws, the other guy was breaking so many laws that I don’t have time to list them all here. It’s pretty clear who was at fault.

by helen on Apr 14, 2009 1:55 AM CDT reply actions

Okay, I don't want to be insensitive and I do feel sympathy for Adenhart and his family

but I try to be a realist and as objective as possible. From reports I’ve read, they were heading to the club, most likely to celebrate Adenhart’s win. But I know people my age and they’re not that intelligent, we tend to drink before we go out to build up a buzz. I believe the girl was 20, the driver was 25, and Adenhart was 22. I can’t be sure but if I had to guess they had some alcohol in all three of them. I don’t drink and drive, but I do have friends that do and I have no sympathy when they get DUI’s. But I’m left wondering if Adenhart’s driver had been drinking and he took the life of someone else, would I be feeling as sympathetic as I am now? Again, this incident was shitty all around, but I would still like to know the complete situation. With the same facts as everyone else, I agree with everyone above about who’s fault it is and I hope he gets the harshest punishment possible. But a small part inside of me feels skeptical because I don’t trust the police and the way the media has always reported news regarding athletes. Some examples that made me look before I make conclusions before getting all the information: Duke Lacrosse scandal, Kobe Bryant Rape. I wasn’t there and I don’t know everything that happened, but like I said, I don’t want to offend anyone, but I just don’t want to jump to conclusions, especially when all the information I’m getting is from the media whom I already distrust.

by aznsensation on Apr 14, 2009 6:00 AM CDT up reply actions

First...

Every news report I’ve read said the girl was driving.

Second, in Illinois at least, all drivers in fatal crashes are tested. I don’t know if it’s the same in California or not.

You are hovering (in VERY wide circles) around a point when you ask how we’d feel if the player was drunk and driving. You’d do better to bring up Josh Hancock or Leonard Little than to baselessly speculate on this case when the wounds are still so fresh.

There is no such thing as an ugly female breast

by Worf on Apr 14, 2009 6:55 AM CDT up reply actions

Second time......

…NO ONE in the Adenhart car had been drinking. It was a long game, well over three hours, and after it was over Adenhart spent time with his father, a Secret Service agent, whom he had invited to come out from Maryland to watch him pitch. They all spent time at the Stadium with his dad and teammates, and then around midnight left to go to a club called In Cahoots. The driver, Courtney Stewart, 20, had NOT been drinking. She wasn’t going to be drinking as she was underage and a very responsible individual.

You’re crossing a very fine line here. To go public with these assumptions of yours simply because of their ages, without more, is irresponsible at a minimum, not to mention incredibly insensitive. I live in Long Beach, not far from Jered Weaver. Adenhart was due to move into Weaver’s house this past weekend as his roommate for the season. The lone survivor, Jon Wilhite, played ball for Cal State Fullerton. The players from Cal State Long Beach, about two miles from me, and Fullerton, are very close despite the fact they compete with each other. College ball around here is a huge deal because those two teams usually have a ton of future pro players. The other victims, Stewart, Wilhite, and Henry Pearson, a law student, are getting a large amount of press as well around here due to the fact they touched almost as many lives as Adenhart, if not more. To date, there hasn’t been a shred of evidence that would support the idea the victims were drinking. None.

To wonder out loud what would happen if it had been Adenhart drinking and killing people is to invite nothing but a shitstorm to rain down on you, especially if it isn’t supported by a shred of evidence. If you really want a new asshole torn for yourself, go over to Halos Heaven and try this.

And if any evidence comes out that behavior on Stewart’s part contributed to this disaster, then so be it. However, it wasn’t her with a blood alcohol level of .24, three times the limit, who blew a light at over 60 MPH, driving with a suspended license and several other alcohol related convictons behind her already. It was the other guy. Stewart did nothing wrong. Neither did her passengers. Leave them be.

wow relax

he wasnt being insensitive at all. he was making a pretty valid point. that it is POSSIBLE that they were drinking. They were going to a club so you can make the assumption they were going to drink. It’s a valid question to ask if they could’ve “pregamed” before going to the club. I am a 20 year old college student and basically everyone does that before going to a club or bar. All he was asking for was details on the whole situation before he jumps to conclusions. whats wrong with that? No need to be an ass for no reason when someone just wants to know the details. this is a comment section where you can discuss things that like. next time dont be so damn ignorant.

by Glacier on Apr 14, 2009 12:39 PM CDT up reply actions

The only way that this point has ANY

merit is if you measure the BAC of the survivor, while he was in the hospital.

The female driver of the vehicle did not cause the accident. Again — they were not breaking any traffic laws at the time of the crash

To continue to pick on a point that cannot be proven (if there is no reason to autopsy the victims for their BAC) is absurd…. as is blaming the media.

by San Diego Smooth Jazz Man on Apr 14, 2009 12:49 PM CDT up reply actions

i am aware the girl didnt cause the accident

but what is the problem with wondering IF they were drinking? its a valid possible scenerio and all aznsensation did was question about it. he was saying thats what happened. all the guy did was ask a question and you all snap at him. exactly like you guys are doing to my posts.

My goodness....

….a big full page post by the webmaster about posting and calling people ignorant that you apparently didn’t read.

THEY WEREN’T coming from a club. They were coming from ANGEL STADIUM and going to a club called In Cahoots. If you comprehended all that I wrote, they spent time with Adenhart’s Dad after a long game. His questions should have been kept to himself considering the circumstances, which is most adults do. Moreover, read the post by “Al” here, the webmaster. Speculation here about Courtney Stewart drinking is inappropriate, again, considering the circumstances.

Re-read his post

He didn’t know the girl was driving, which is something EVERY single news outlet reported.

For someone “asking” for details, he certainly did no research on his own.I can’t be sure, but if I had to guess, I would guess that he has already assumed the female driver was drunk and no media report whatsoever would budge him from that.

He talks about how the media doesn’t provide all the information, but he didn’t have the information the media DID provide. He just had his unfounded assertions masquerading as speculation.

We don’t know if Adenhart had been drinking.

We also don’t know if azn is a cross-dressing goat worshipper who likes to drink root beer mixed with Spam. Perhaps if I had more information, I could rule that out, but until I get that, I’m not going to.

This is just so tragic

words can’t describe how tragic and devastating this is for everyone involved. This was a tragic loss of three young people who had everything in front of them, and were living their lives to the fullest and enjoying someone’s success.

I have absolutely no remorse for the drunk driver and hope that he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. there is no excuse for drunk driving, none. Everyone knows it’s wrong, it’s illegal, it’s dangerous, so if you do it, then I have no sympathy for you when you get caught. Although I am a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty, if this person
is in fact convicted, he should have the book thrown at him.

It’s hard not to turn this into a political rant, so I’ll stop here. But this is just a sensless, needless tragedy that could have been totally prevented.
