Cards' Carpenter out with L rib cage strain
(to mlb.com) No timetable until he gets looked at tomorrow, but not good news for the soon-to-be 34 year old recovering starter. This was only his 8th appearance in the past 3 seasons, and, counting tonight's 3 innings, he has only 31.1 innings in those games.

i watched cards postgame
and larussa implied carpenter was going to be out for awhile, dl stint, etc. postgamers were throwing out estimates of 4-5 missed starts. complete speculation of course. they’ll make a decision before the game tomorrow.

good changeup. You’ll strikeout out a lot, but will hit you’re fair share of hard hit balls.

I saw the footage of him being taken out on MLB Network last night.
As a Cubs fan, I felt a weird mixture of emotions. From a strategic standpoint, this obviously goes in the Cubs favor. But, on a more rational level, it’s never good for the game when a good pitcher goes down. And I felt bad for Carpenter – he looked really frustrated and disappointed.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
His stuff was great too
He seemed fully back to 05/06 form.
