Nats may not win 30 games
that is not a hard statement to say there

If the Marlins win Sunday
Six of their 11 wins would be over the Nationals.
The Padres, are exceptionally lucky. They caught the Dodgers before their bats got hot. They played the Giants who, apparently cannot hit or pitch. They helped the Mets open Citifield — does any team have a home field advantage in the first MONTH of a new park? And, the Phillies are apparently suffering a World Series hangover.
The Padres have 4 pitchers. Don’t expect this streak to continue. When you have no expectations, you can play carefree baseball.

they all count
as for the Marlins and Nat’s——this is really bucking the odds. Ironically on the Nat’s only Guzman is hitting by leading the league!
What you are saying is that LAD is actually better since they got stung by the Pads and then got hot while both are 9-3.

The Padres lineup isn't that bad.
Gonzalez is a stud. Headley is a good young player. Kouzmanoff and Giles can hit some. Jody Gerut is a good platoon outfielder. They’ll score some runs, and in that division could win a few games. Are they this good? No. But they’re not as bad as everyone thinks.
The Nationals are a Double-A team masquerading as a major league club. Still, it will be hard for any major league team to win less than 50 games. That has been done only twice in the expansion era.

and in October of 2009 there will be three teams
that team virtually has no pitching. Besides Zimmerman, Dukes, and Dunn, they have no hitting.

the Pads are winning for one reason only

baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out

Testify!
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Of course they count....
but still, right now playing the Nats is a gift from the NL schedule makers. Teams always go on hot streaks, that’s a given. Such streaks are also magnified at the beginning at the season.
And, the opposite is true. The Phils, Angels, and Tampa Bay are not as bad as their records appear to be. The Giants, if all four of their starters fail — may actually be terrible. Randy Johnson is pitching as if he’s 75-years old. The jury’s out on the Brewers. They may have lost too much pitching, but they cannot be counted out.
But if you think the Padres are going to challenge for the NL West…..you better take the points……

If Texas can find pitching
They could easily take that division. It’s a toss-up right now.

As envisioned, the Milwaukee Brewers are awful
I said they’d lose 90 games. Hard to win when you have literally no pitching to get excited about once you get past Yovani Gallardo and you are an absolute terrible defensive team.
The Brewers REALLY blew it when they didn’t move Prince Fielder for pitching, shift Ryan Braun to 1st base and move 2nd base butcher Rickie Weeks to the outfield.
