When was the last time all 4 Chicago teams won on the same day?

I can't remember when the Hawks and Bulls won playof games and the Cubs and White Sox both won, all on the same day.  Any stat heads out there have the answer?  It's probably been a while.  I've got to write more words to make this a qualifing post to amke it on to this web site, so here I am typing away, trying to fill this space.  Is this enough words?  i sure hope so.

chicago teams

Well, they weren’t playoff games, but all four teams were last victorious all the way back … a week ago. Last Saturday, in fact.

I think they meant

I think they were referring to the Bulls and Hawks being playoff wins. This is such a terrific heady time to be a fan of at least 2 of the beloved.

For the record my teams are Cubs, Bears, Northwestern (alma matter) and Blackhawks tied for 3rd, Bulls, Illinois (husband’s alma matter) and Notre Dame (basically entire Dad’s side of the family)

Yeah, I noticed that last night and even though I dislike the Sox....

it was a very good day for Chicago. Even though I now live in Colorado (and I’m sending this from a very isolated spot in southwestern Texas), the Cubs, Bulls, Hawks and Bears are still my favorites, and always will be.

Actually, if you count Notre Dame’s spring game, they won too! ;-)

(I graduated from there in ’74).

This is Fanshot material, Brianp88.

If you find yourself typing extra words just to get to the minimum, make it a Fanshot instead. Fanposts are for more involved discussions.

Admittedly, though, I was wondering the same thing about the Chicago teams.

Here is the answer...

The last time all 4 teams won on the same day – Sunday, April 16, 2006. Cubs beat Pirates in Pittsburgh, 7-3. White Sox beat Blue Jays, 6-4, at the Cell. Bulls beat Heat in Miami, 117-93. And, the Hawks beat the Blue Jackets at the UC, 4-3.

Except for last Saturday, as noted above.

Someday, when Bud pushes the World Series to December

We can get the potential of all FIVE Chicago teams playing on the same day.

It could have happened last October....

… if the Cubs had won even one NLDS game.

The last time...

the Bulls and ’Hawks both won a playoff game on the same date was April 26th 1992 (I am going off a date I heard this morning on ESPN so…). The Cubs and Sox also won on that day.

Just passing the time until spring.

by DenverCub on Apr 19, 2009 2:37 PM CDT reply actions

Pretty likely

Bulls won title #2 eventually defeating the TB’s in game 6 at Chicago Stadium. Remember that game fondly as they were down something like 15 points going into the 4th quarter.

The ’Hawks that year after being down 2-1 in the 1st round to the Blues rattled off 11 straight until getting swept themselves by the ’guins.

Penguins

I still have the Penguins hat I had to wear for a week because of a bet with a coworker who had just moved here from Pittsburgh in January of that year.

I know I’m not the only fan that is almost worried someone will pinch me and I’ll wake up to find this amazing 2 year turnaround for the Blackhawks has been a dream.

Just 2 years ago I heard this joke "Why doesn’t MIlwaukee have an NHL team?

“Chicago would want one too!”

And I’ve been to 2 division clinchers at Wrigley, one one game playoff at Wrigley, 2 NFC title game wins at Soldier Field and to one NBA title win for the Bulls but I’ve never seen an atmosphere like the UC on Thursday night.

If you recall...

…Keenan reacted in the final series with the Pens the same way he has with the Flames this year – complaining that the referees were screwing the Hawks.

I understand what he was trying to do, but it didn’t work then and I also think he is over the top this time around as well.

I don't remember him complaining that much more

than other teams, though it was clear he was vocal throughout the playoffs. Ironically he was most vocal in the Blues series until it was tied 2-2, then he was quiet mostly through the sweeps of the Wings and Oilers.

What I do remember all too well was the benching of JR midway through period 2 of Cup Finals game #1 with the ’Hawks up 4-1.

Going forward, if preseason games count

then mid-October could work.

Cubs and Sox in the LCS’s, Bears and ’Hawks in regular season, Bulls in pre-season.

Throw in the Wolves and it’s nice half-dozen.

too bad the fire lost yesterday

could have had all five teams win

They tied after being up 2-0 at the half

Last week when all the major league teams won, the Wolves did also.

So counting it as “pro” teams that was a 5-0 day.

Chicago

I’m 40 and can’t remember a better time to be a Chicago sports fan.

The Bulls have an exciting young player to build around in Rose and some solid players they can keep in the building process.

The Blackhawks are an up and coming team who need some experience and an addition or two and could take the Cup next year.

The Cubs are on their way to what many predict will be an exciting playoff bound season.

The Sox look better than expected.

Northwestern should have a good team after a bowl appearance last year.

The Fire is competitive as usual from what I hear (not a big fan although we do go to at least one game a year).

And did I mention the Bears have a new Quarterback? Actually the Bears have a Quarterback period.

Jay is our Quarterback. I REPEAT JAY IS OUR QUARTERBACK. Did I mention we have a Quarterback who happens to be named Jay?.

Forgot

Forgot Illinois having a top basketball recruiting class coming in. While it’s not a Chicago team (and of course NU is in evanston) a lot of Chicago sports fans without a big allegience to another school root for both.

Just wish another school sort of adopted by many Chicagoans, Notre Dame would get their butts going. I just pray the first step isn’t firing Weiss and stealing Fitzgerald next year.

Thinking more about it

I’m gonna have to make an offer to a buddy who has Bears’ ST’s. Perhaps trading Cubs or Hawks tickets for Bears tickets. Of course that hinges on the Bears getting a guy – with a name other than Devin Hester or Matt Forte – that can actually catch a Cutler pass.
