Fukudome Lives!
Dave Cameron says we never should have gotten off the Fukudome bandwagon. What he says here seems relevant to the Derrek Lee discussions.

He has the potential
to make us forget about the $10 million/year DH. Go Kosuke!!

Well, I love Fangraphs...
…and it’s always nice to read good things about Dome. But that article is a lot shorter and less substantive that I’d hoped for. And I can see the author is taking some flak in the comments. It kinda reminds me of this Fangraphs article about Matt Murton that I read the other day. It just seems like they’re not addressing key flaws in the players in question.
Anyway, go Kosuke!
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
Well, one person in the comment section has a point....
If the point was to say that we shouldn’t make judgments on small sample sizes, well, yeah, that’s fine. Obviously. But the flip side is we can’t sit here and say with certainty, "So much for that," using the small sample of this April. It’s just a hot month.
Nobody cares about your fantasy baseball team
That's a decent comment, but Cameron's response to a similar comment is relevant, too.
Which is why this is relevant for Derrek Lee. You don’t just take 4 out of 6 months of stats to predict players. You take as many stats you can get, translated as well as you can translate them, and work off of that. If we’re going to make sweeping statements about who Lee or Dome are, we should do so based on their career numbers.
Derrek Lee is good.
That's true.
It’s just a little more confusing with Dome because the bulk of his career stats come from Japan and there appears to be a lot of conflict as to just how to apply those to the major leagues.

12 extra base hits in 55 at bats after ASB he had 11 extra base hits in 75 games
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Cubs might have what they thought they had when they signed him in 07…
