An article on chicagotribune.com says that Marmols knee injury is a grade 1 sprain and he could return in 4-5 days.

Kevin Gregg is coming off of knee surgery, and Neal Cotts was walking around this morning with a wrap around his leg.

Did we know about this knee surgery and it’s lingering effects at the beginning of the year? I don’t remember reading about it when they signed Gregg.

And I’m glad Cotts is trying to fix his bruised ego by wrapping his leg. Awesome.

Sorry to nitpick...

but we traded for Gregg and overpaid for him.

It was known he came off surgery and that he wasn’t up to par so the Cubs knew there was a risk when trading for him

we knew he was coming off knee surgery

baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out

You're not nitpicking, I was asking for that info:)

I wasn’t paying much attention to this acquisition in the off-season. I swore off the Cubs for the winter since they disappointed me so much last year. Needed a break.

Well, about the “signing” part, yeah I guess you are nit-picking. I know we traded for him, should have said “acquired.” Whatever.

My point was that since tuning in this ST, I just didn’t hear any talk about his surgery at all. But then the season started and in the first week he told Lou his knee got sore when he sat between innings (which was news to Lou/the Cubs at the time I thought) and that was the first time I really heard about his surgery and the lingering effects.

Uhmm....
Piniella’s new-look lineup is otherwise the same, led by Ryan Theriot, Kosuke Fukudome and Alfonso Soriano, who will be an emergency backup infielder with Ramirez out of the lineup.

If we’re down to Fonzie playing the infield, then I’m getting worried!

"[I]f we get a Jumbotron, I can't pull the instant replay thing on all the rookies. Every time there's a good play, we're like, 'Oh, look at the replay,' and you get the rookies to look at the scoreboard." - Ryan Dempster, 2 January 2009

It's the idea of Hill at third that makes me worry

at least Soriano has played infield as a professional.

The strangest idea was having Zambrano take grounders today.
