Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

I thought I might try this at the start of the next couple of series to see if it could generate interesting discussion.

What do you know about the Cub's next opponent?
Who has been hot or not?
Anyone you could see the Cubs acquiring later in the year?
Any player that has been overlooked in fantasy leagues?

Let's start with the Diamondbacks!

How about that Felipe Lopez?

You have to wonder what was up in Washington that he was so terrible there, then bounced back at the end of last season. He’s hitting just fine now. Anybody gamble on him in deep fantasy leagues?

Speaking of Felipe Lopez...

… “hot” could be used to describe Mrs. Lopez:

Oh, sure, Al

Make it so I can’t refer my own kid to my Fanpost. Sheesh! ; )

Augie Ojeda is leading the way

Gosh, I remember when he was on the Cubs.

You mean The Original Ryan Theriot?

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

I almost forgot

The D’backs are a non-factor this year, since their biggest bat, Micah Owings, is gone.

I hate being a Debbie Downer but

the Cubs usually struggle at that park. Hopefully the new lineup can play some small ball and win the series against a rachitic Arizona team.

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

I hate hate hate hate hate

that ballpark.

But the new lineup is the old lineup, just with Miles. :P

You and me both Drew

I would like to go take a swim in that pool they have out in center-right though.

Stephen Drew's OPS is currently the number of the beast.

Here's an article on the D'backs...

…that just popped up on Fangraphs. Savor that headline. Representative quote:

Replacing one of the best pitchers in baseball with Yusmeiro Petit for even just six weeks will cost Arizona at least one win.

Let’s hope that applies to tonight’s game.

Some good facts from Len and Bob:
  • Dating back to September 10 of last season, Ted Lilly has won four straight road starts. Lilly is 2-0 in his last two starts against Arizona after losing his previous two starts against them.
  • Dan Haren is 1-2 with a 1.35 ERA in three home starts this season. Haren is 0-2 with an 8.04 ERA in three career starts against the Cubs.
  • Arizona is hitting an ML-worst .223 this season and have scored a total of 63 runs which is the second-fewest in the majors.

Lifetime

the Cubs were 10-18, now 10-19 at the BOB/Chase Field. Since the D Back’s inception in 1998, the Cubs have won a total of 2 series’ here. I really didn’t feel like digging into BA’s and all that, but suffice it to say, the Cubs stink here. Period.

I’m going to the Weds day game with Dempster on the hill. Hopefully most of our walking wounded will be in the starting lineup.

Actually, the Cubs are now 14-28 lifetime at Chase Field.

That doesn’t include the 2 playoff games, either.

Sorry I was just counting regular season. Shouldn't have said lifetime.
