Found this,he makes an interesting case. I don't necessarily agree with his opinion. He does make a statement about Bradley having a poor attitude in the clubhouse. I didn't know about that.

Since

the guy who wrote this is never in the clubhouse, I don’t really think I’ll take his word for anything.

Agreed

The writer is a high school senior from Florida. I doubt he has any knowledge of Bradley’s clubhouse demeanor.

by rlpete on Apr 28, 2009 11:45 AM CDT up reply actions

Wow no joke

Not to say a high school senior can’t be bright, but its pretty clear on this one you have to consider the source. And his sources seem to be speculation and opinion.

"Ask Dad. He'll know. And on the off chance he doesn't, he'll make something up"

by StevenABQ on Apr 28, 2009 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions

What speculation? That's exactly what Bradley did. He didn't run out a groundball.

You may be a Bradley fan, and that’s fine, but the writer nailed it on the head. Bradley, IMO, is a cancer. When he plays, he hits like shit. He’s been hurt for over half of the young season, and he doesn’t hustle. I personally think, and have thought all along, that the Bradley signing is bad.

It would be great for him to turn it around, and I hope he does, but I’m not counting on it.

by Cubs and Hawks fan on Apr 28, 2009 11:52 AM CDT up reply actions

Well

I don’t think you would want to run very hard if your groin hurt either. Ya know, maybe he was told to take it easy to avoid hurting it even more.

by tizzle on Apr 28, 2009 11:54 AM CDT up reply actions

If he can't run hard because of an injury, then he shouldn't be playing

in the first place. The only thing he’s doing is hurting the team by playing hurt. If you can’t run, then keep your ass on the bench. That’s kind of a no brainer there.

by Cubs and Hawks fan on Apr 28, 2009 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Really?

Looks like Bradley is facing the same rush to judgment that Jacque Jones faced.

We’re talking about the reception he got from his not so hot start that never really cleared up even though he made valuable contributions later in the season.

I guess I prefer to look at all the facts before getting all judge and jury on the guy. And in the future since we don’t agree on Bradley I will assume you will just ignore my posts that are not in agreement with your judgement/assessment of him. I see your opinion, and I hope you see mine. This way we don’t waste the time of either of us.

Fair opinion

If you’re going to run down Bradley for what you believe was entirely a lack of hustle, you better be prepared to run everyone down. Go ahead, from Lee, to Ramirez, to Guerrero, to Hamilton to just about everyone perhaps a few guys here and there on each team…they all jog to first base on routine grounders. Consistently. What’s worse, they do it at every single minor league stop too, all the way down to low A and short season ball.

You’re crazy if you believe Bradley should be singled out for that specific instance if you’re not willing to single them all out. Every time.

Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?

Then he needs to say something and get out of the game.

How can you people not agree with that? If he can’t run, then how the hell is he going to play OF? How is he going to get to second if he laces one in the gap? How is he going to score a run on a hit up the middle? He’s not helping the team by playing hurt, and if you people can’t see that, then go ahead and keep defending him and sound foolish.

and has been defended by fans, coaches, and mates (not this season so far) so he too should be on a short leash, according to this thought process (which I DO NOT agree with).

I agree about hustling and giving 100%, but sometimes (when hurt) giving what seems like 80% is 100% of what you can give now.

Bradley went two for four, walked and scored a run. That’s an OBP of .600 for the game, isn’t it?

It’s I told you so…the thing is most BCB people love to praise the current players, but as soon as they’re gone, they crumb on them, and put them down anyway they can. Well i’m doing that now with Bradley. He doesn’t play, and he’s overpaid.

But according to alot of you, it’s early, not enough time to access his ability, yada yada yada…he’s not a rookie, people. The injuries he has now and the temper tantrums have been going on his whole career.

Oh but give the guy a chance, he just joined the Cubs, 17 games is hardly enough time to evaluate him, even though he hasn’t played in but 9 or 10 games. He’s a left-handed hitter, and that’s what Lou wanted. Give him a chance, give him a chance….yada yada yada

I guess 9 years in the bigs isn’t enough time to evaluate someone….what a joke

just reading back.

You can’t judge a poster by the number of posts.

CH fans content is crap, but number of posts means nothing.

if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand

by N Oakley on Apr 29, 2009 9:45 AM CDT up reply actions

Yes, because he’s new to the Cubs, and we want to WIN. I think it’s interesting that as a self-professed Cubs fan, you somehow DON’T want to see him do well.

Of course I want to see him do well

as I’ve stated in other posts. I really hope he does. But looking at his career, I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

by Cubs and Hawks fan on Apr 28, 2009 2:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Looking

back at his career, explain how he hasn’t done well. I mean you can’t be talking about his stats, because those show that he is a good baseball player.

by tizzle on Apr 28, 2009 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions

He doesn't stay healthy...he rarely plays in 120 games.

He’s a hothead…he’s been on 7 teams in 9 years

Stat wise, he’s decent, not great…overall, I’d rather send him on to another team

by Cubs and Hawks fan on Apr 28, 2009 3:10 PM CDT up reply actions

And how are you going to pull that off?

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

by daver on Apr 28, 2009 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions

In only 120 games

he’s still pretty damn valuble. I’d take him every time over the other options we could be using.

by tizzle on Apr 28, 2009 3:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

And it is not as though any Fan on this blog thought he would play 130+ games anyway. I thought that Cubs management was clear when they signed him that they were not expecting Bradley for every game throughout the season. Truth is we get 120 games out of him, we’re probably doing pretty good.

You're out of your mind

if you think he’ll play in that many games.

You don't seem to understand this yourself
What has he done so far?? One homerun, one RBI, under .100 BA and he’s making $10 million. Wow, way to justify Bradley. Just give him a chance. Fuck that, he’s water and needs to go.

I’m not a betting man but based on the 8 or 9 years that he’s played and been very good at baseball, these will not be his final stats for the year.

by Wreckard on Apr 28, 2009 2:58 PM CDT up reply actions

That

just makes too much sense Wreckard.

by tizzle on Apr 28, 2009 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah probably not

but that’s what we have through the first 24 at bats…I reckon he’ll get a few more

by Cubs and Hawks fan on Apr 28, 2009 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions

He would probably like to see Soto go too

and if he were a Philly fan – it’d be time to release Jimmy Rollins

I dont get it

Every year there are some players that people like and some that people don’t. Not all fans are going to like all the choices that the management makes. Not all the fans are going to like how some players approach the game. It does not make one a bad fan or a good fan. Everyone has an opinion i can understand people disagreeing with each other but alot of this is getting really old. No one on this team is above being called out….it comes with the territory. We are not bobbing head dolls (yeah i know TWSS) and dont have to agree on much of anything except that we all want our boys in pinstrips to play hard and win.

I for one was never a fan on the Dome signing…..no real reasons just didnot like the years and money…but i dont want to see him fail…..

The thing that I have learned over the last couple of years with these cubs teams is that they are very very streaky. you have to enjoy the good streaks and wait out the bad ones.

Let go cubs

Bradley goes

2-4 and a walk, at least one run scored.
