I'm refusing to make a pick...

…as this year, I’ve realized I’m far better at picking the field than picking actual games.

Heck, Al’s bracket earned 8 more points than mine in our little SBN site manager bracket contest. :-)

Rooting for MSU but...

My cousin, his wife and 2 very close friends are MSU alums (in fact my cousin’s kids are here so they could go up for the game) and I don’t have any friends or family who are North Carolina fans so I’m rooting for MSU.

Besides as an NU grad I always root for the big 10.

I absolutely LOVE NCAA basketball...

…hell, I’m here at KU, where we won the national championship last year (I watched Mario Chalmbers’ 3 point shot @ Allen Fieldhouse; which was opened up just for fans to watch the game on the JumboTron), and made it to the Sweet 16 this year after drafting 7 players in last year’s NBA Draft. Even so, I’m MUCH MUCH more excited for today’s Cubs’ game than I am for the game tonight. I want MSU to win.

Anybody ever stay up for ONE SHINING MOMENT? It’s one of the single greatest parts of sports. Once a year, for only a few minutes.

I was born in Kansas but went to University of Illinois

A lot of people at Illinois still have a lot of hatred for Bill Self leaving, but honestly, he made the right choice by going to a better program. I had Kansas last year winning the national championship and won all the pools I was in when they had that amazing run against Memphis. I was so ecstatic that night. This year I have Michigan State winning it all. BTW, each year I only make one bracket that I use for all the websites and such. So how awesome am I that I have the chance of choosing the national championship 2 years in a row?

by aznsensation on Apr 6, 2009 7:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Tell those people that are mad at Bill Self:

Bill Self is responsible for the 2005 Illini team that went to the national championship game. Any sensible man would leave for one of the top 5 college programs for one that’s not even in the top 25 discussions. No brainer.

my girlfriend is one of those people that hates Self

but I just keep reminding her that she’s a girl and knows nothing about college basketball. It’s funny getting her mad. :-) I’m hoping this game will end quickly so I can watch the BBall game. I’m hoping for another amazing finish like kansas had last year against Memphis.

by aznsensation on Apr 6, 2009 7:26 PM CDT up reply actions

And I run a college basketball blog...

…and am more up for baseball! The fact it’s the Cubs compared to two teams I’m not a fan of certainly helps that, however.

Yep I agree

You do realize Drew Brees was from Purdue as well, and when he started he was only thought of as an okay QB. A new team gave him some time and look how he’s tearing up the NFL offensively. I’m just gonna say that there’s a lot of potential of what you’re getting out of Orton. He’s a leader and that’s gonna help the Broncos if they give him the chance.

by aznsensation on Apr 6, 2009 7:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm a Purdue grad, so yeah, I know...lol

I think Orton was always hindered by the Chicago offensive scheme since he spent 4 years at Purdue in a West Coast Offense and out of the shotgun. Chicago was the worst place he could’ve started in the NFL.

mlb.tv woes

Just in case anyone is wondering, the mlb.tv broadcast is almost unwatchable. up until the 3rd inning it was cutting in and out. Now its working but i’m about an inning behind the WGN radio broadcast.

I am in Chicago and I used a proxy server in Mexico to bypass the blackout. Once they check my ip and I can login and then switch back to my regular connection. Either way mlb.tv is choppy – spring training worked great but I’m thinking pretty much any game in prime time will be nearly unwatchable due to Cubs fans around the globe hammering the mlb.tv servers.

I also saw on the mlb.tv forums that gameday audio wasnt working for WGN. Poor people forced to listen to the Astro’s broadcast.

So yeah, don’t drop $100 on mlb.tv unless you want to deal with proxy servers to bypass the blackouts and even then have to deal with a totally lame product.

This afternoon I was able to watch 4 games I could care less about all at once. Tonight I can’t get one #%&ing game to work correctly.
