Morissey Gets It Right For A Change
"You don't go 100-plus years without a World Series title and believe the gods are your drinking buddies.
But is this fun? Is this any way to live?"
No and No.
I'm reminded of a Lin Brehmer quote from his 1984 XRT Flashback: "We were dealing with Fate. And it's bigger than all of us."

Morrissey never gets it right
…but in this piece I agree with him. Something has happened to us, including many fellow posters on BCB. Following baseball is supposed to be fun, not life or death.
I’m as concerned as the next guy about Geo’s decline and our middle relief, but would never waste a precious moment at Wrigley booing either. Booing DLee, a class act fighting injury? These people need to get a life.
Boo them.

I prefer laughing to booing.
Anger affects the rest of your day, but luckily so does joy. What I’ve seen so far this season is an almost unprecedented series of body blows, a progressively nastier and more difficult series of hurdles being erected in the Cubs’ way. At this point, it’s become a comedy, so why not just laugh at it? Booing just seems like such a waste of energy.

I agree with Morrissey
Way too many Cub fans entered this season thinking it was going to be simple cakewalk to the playoffs. Like we were all going to yawn our way through 162 games because of our vast superiority on paper and that it was all about making amends in the playoffs for a change. Talk about ARROGANCE on a massive scale and for a ballclub that has failed to win a World Series since 1908.
Well, the joke ONCE AGAIN appears on us. I was saying all offseason that beware the fact that SO MANY Cub players had great seasons in 2008 and that last year’s team stayed remarkably injury free. And of course people like me were mocked and called Debbie Downers.
So know the hypocrisy of it all is that Cub fans will be increasingly booing and the scene at Wrigley stands great chance of getting downright ugly and scary this summer.
