sorry em - gotta disagree with you here
I realize he doesn’t make a habit of it but that’s no excuse. Go back up and look at the post. Then go ahead and type it out yourself. Probably takes at least 10-15 seconds. That’s no heat of the moment. That’s conscious effort.
I curse and swear with the best of them out loud. But there’s a big difference between yelling at the tv and sitting down and typing it out. The former is reaction – the latter is intentional effort. Somewhere between the two, a person should be able to stop the effort and not post it.
Go ahead and pound on the keyboard if that makes you feel better. But when you’re done, hit Cancel instead of Post.
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
I personally agree
but Dan apologized for it.
I think he gets a pass this time for it as long as it doesn’t become a habit.
Fair enough
especially your point about thinking before posting. But as one who occasionally loses it, I can’t pass judgment when someone else does too… especially when they don’t make a habit out it.

For those of you that have Brewers friends...
…just remember, they’ve played the horrible Pirates (who just lost their 8th straight today to the Mets) five times and swept them…and we’ve played the arguably best team in the NL 6 times and split with the Cardinals. I’ll take that, especially considering our injury bug.

Saying that someone is mentally retarded...
shouldn’t be offensive. That’s a generally accepted way of describing someone who has mental challenges.
I'm not gonna get into a syntax discussion...
…but as someone that’s licensed special education teacher and a 2nd year PhD student in special education, no one says “retarded” anymore. Even a well-recognized and widely read journal in the field of education changed its name after “retarded” was deemed politically incorrect.
Evey Hammond: Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici. V: By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.
According to the AP Stylebook
“mentally retarded” is no longer the preferred term, replaced by “mentally disabled.”
That's old, too.
Current publications use “intellectual disability”, and there’s been a change from third-person language of “disabled” to first-person terms like “has a disability”. So instead of saying “John Smith is disabled”, you would say “John Smith has a disability”. Gives the person a bit more empowerment, ya know.
