I think you're supposed hold your pinkie finger out when you swing the bat.
at least that’s what Coach Post says.

By the fans on here, he is.
This is a guy who posted an .880 OPS last season, his first full season. A good year? Certainly. But an elite hitter like many on here act? Definitely not. He can’t take walks, and he doesn’t play defense.
Wow
You honestly believe that the fact he just walked means he takes a lot of walks? I’m sure your smarter than that. His OBP is pathetic.
2009 has an OBP of .465
Career of .361 not exactly setting the world on fire, but still a decent number
He's off to an extremely hot start this year.
But for a guy to be a great player, he has to post an OBP over .361, or add something on defense. Braun does neither.
true, his defense is shameful
and for some reason he carries himself like he’s the second coming of barry bonds
Lets be clear here
Im not a Brewer fan by any stretch of the imagination.
But to call Ryan Braun over rated, is not only illogical but well…. Dumb
How?
Many here act like he’s comparable to Pujols. I just showed you his OPS from his first full season. You think thats a great MLB player?
Well if your going to compare players
Braun is comparable to Josh Hamilton then anyone…
and his OPS in 2008 was .888, id definitely not say Braun is over-rated
can we just pitch strike one and not fall behind so often

Alright, alright.
Admittedly a cheap shot. I just think that when you take a look at the stats, people will realize that he isn’t all that great. He does kill the Cubs, though.
Where would he play?
I’d rather have Soriano in left, and Braun’s glove prohibits him from playing anywhere else.
Id better never hear you make any comments about
Soriano’s defense.
Because thats another flavor of the month special around these parts.
“Guess Hitting Hack” and a terrible fielder
And I've never made either of those baseless comments.
Soriano certainly isn’t a great fielder, but his arm more than makes up for it. Check out his UZR numbers compared to Braun, too. And Soriano is a great hitter, no matter who won’t admit it.
I would hope when it comes to Braun as well,
after you saw his career OBP. The guy can hit bombs, no doubt.
not that great?
Dude, as much as I hate to admit it, the kid is really, really good. He hit 37 homers, and drove in 97 runs in his rookie year, in only 113 games.
He’s a career .300 hitter, and has hit over 30 homeruns in each of his first two seasons.
He’s a terrible defensive player, but he’s a VERY GOOD hitter
"Oh Crap"
-Famous Last Words by General George Custer
All I'm saying is that he shouldn't be considered
elite, like many here do, simply because he’s nowhere near a complete hitter. If I said he ’isn’t that great" then I misspoke.

Creates fights, flared-tempers, creates a lot of lineup holes when he doesn't play 45% of the season's games, he creates lots of stuff, you're right.

What was the point of that?
Are you going to keep detracting from him as he continues to hit well and play good defense?
I'm not impressed from the 8 games he's missed or the sub .180 average.
Even his OBP has dropped to .325.

He's hasn't been great so far.
But he’s on a hot streak, and finally hitting well. You really aren’t willing to give the guy a chance? I would think as a cub fan you would root for him to succeed, but to each his own I guess.

And that was Soto's problem, right there.
Gets a hitters pitch, right down the middle, and tops it on the ground. He’s hitting nothing in the air.

He's an old replacement level player.
Why do so many people think call-ups who hit well initially are going to be great?
never said he was going to be great...just that it seems like he deserves a chance...but with rami on the team will never get it
by I_bleed_blue on May 10, 2009 2:23 PM CDT up reply actions
why?
He isn’t really a 3B. And I’d much rather have Ramirez, as I’m sure anyone with a brain would.
No disagreeing with the statement bout ramirez...
the cubs could solve a lot of there problems by trading ramirez to get some bullpen help…which I hope they don’t do
