Over-rated?

wow that couldnt be any further from the truth

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:22 PM CDT up reply actions

By the fans on here, he is.

This is a guy who posted an .880 OPS last season, his first full season. A good year? Certainly. But an elite hitter like many on here act? Definitely not. He can’t take walks, and he doesn’t play defense.

by :-) on May 10, 2009 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Cant take walks

yet he just walked….

Alrighty then

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Wow

You honestly believe that the fact he just walked means he takes a lot of walks? I’m sure your smarter than that. His OBP is pathetic.

by :-) on May 10, 2009 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions

2009 has an OBP of .465

Career of .361 not exactly setting the world on fire, but still a decent number

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:30 PM CDT up reply actions

He's off to an extremely hot start this year.

But for a guy to be a great player, he has to post an OBP over .361, or add something on defense. Braun does neither.

by :-) on May 10, 2009 1:32 PM CDT up reply actions

true, his defense is shameful

and for some reason he carries himself like he’s the second coming of barry bonds

by Danny Satan on May 10, 2009 1:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Lets be clear here

Im not a Brewer fan by any stretch of the imagination.

But to call Ryan Braun over rated, is not only illogical but well…. Dumb

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:27 PM CDT up reply actions

How?

Many here act like he’s comparable to Pujols. I just showed you his OPS from his first full season. You think thats a great MLB player?

by :-) on May 10, 2009 1:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Well if your going to compare players

Braun is comparable to Josh Hamilton then anyone…

and his OPS in 2008 was .888, id definitely not say Braun is over-rated

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:32 PM CDT up reply actions

can we just pitch strike one and not fall behind so often

And you’d be lying if you said No

by Galvan316 on May 10, 2009 1:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Where would he play?

I’d rather have Soriano in left, and Braun’s glove prohibits him from playing anywhere else.

by :-) on May 10, 2009 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Id better never hear you make any comments about

Soriano’s defense.

Because thats another flavor of the month special around these parts.

Soriano certainly isn’t a great fielder, but his arm more than makes up for it. Check out his UZR numbers compared to Braun, too. And Soriano is a great hitter, no matter who won’t admit it.

not that great?

Dude, as much as I hate to admit it, the kid is really, really good. He hit 37 homers, and drove in 97 runs in his rookie year, in only 113 games.

He’s a career .300 hitter, and has hit over 30 homeruns in each of his first two seasons.

He’s a terrible defensive player, but he’s a VERY GOOD hitter
