Cubs/Cards Rivalry Ranked 6th
Forbes ranked t he top 10 best rivalries in baseball and the Cubs/Cards came in 6th, surprisingly the Yank/Red Sox didn't finish first but you never would have guessed that with how much air time they get on FOX and ESPN, White Sox/Indians placed higher than Cubs/Cards
"One-two divisional finishes: zero
Close season finishes (five games or less): 14
Current ticket markup: 14%
Midwesterners will howl at this match-up's low placement, but the simple fact is that history is not on the Cubs' side (it would help if they won more often). The two teams have never finished first and second in their division despite the fact that they've always been in the same division. It's simply not a very good rivalry when one team puts together eight World Series-caliber teams (Cardinals) and the other one finishes in last or second-to-last place in 29 of the 60 seasons we measured. The only thing that matters in determing a rivalry is wins and losses.
That is why the Giants and Dodgers are such great rivals; after all, it’s not like they are forever linked in history by a cross-country move to California, or anything like that. Oh, wait…
That Forbes article is garbage.

The only
The only comparible ones even close are Yankees/Red Sox and Dodgers/Giants.
The Sox and Indians weren’t even in the same division until 1994.
Jay is our Quarterback. I REPEAT JAY IS OUR QUARTERBACK. Did I mention we have a Quarterback who happens to be named Jay?.

Cant say I disagree
For a Cubs fan like me in their 20s, there hasnt really been much of a head to head rivalry. when they win, we suck, and last year the real tension was with Milwaukee. Not to mention the Cards recent WS trips and our 0-9 post season skid.
I think they got it right, though its odd that Forbes is covering sports

The Dodgers/Giants games are brutal...
…fan-wise. They really really REALLY hate each other.

They're basing this on ticket markup?
That’s just silly.

sorry that article is garbage...
I hate to say yanks-sox is #1 but it is…so here is my top 10
1. Yankees and Red Sox
2. Dodgers and Giants
3. Cubs and Cardinals
4. Indians and Tigers
5. Indians and White Sox
6. Mets and Phillies
7. Astros and Cardinals
8. Pirates and Phillies
9. Braves and Mets
10. and even though they aren’t in the same leagues i would put a tie between the
White Sox and Cubs and Mets and Yankees because inner city rivalries matter..

Maybe in 1978...
the Bucs and Phils had a heated rivalry. Heck, the Yankees and Royals were bitter rivals back then. Since the 1970’s, the Pirates/Phillies rivalry has really cooled. The Pennsylvania teams aren’t in the same division anymore.

Isn't the White Sox-Twins rivalry pretty strong?
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Astros Cubs
have become a good rival, and I can see that one moving up the ranking

I can also see
Cubs/Brewers moving up. Not saying necessarily top 10, but some bad blood has started to form the last couple of years. Judging by how well we travel and fill up Miller Park, I don’t think that will change anytime soon, especially if Ryan Braun has anything to say about it.

Meh - I don't feel much of a rivalry with the 'Stros.
Just another division opponent, really. The Brewers-Cubs thing is definitely way ahead of it.
