That link also says...
… either Marshall or Wells to the bullpen after Z returns. Marshall has thrown well — I don’t know why Lou would do that.
That also means Ascanio will probably be headed back to Iowa after Z comes back.

it's gotta be wells...
to the pen as i agree that marshall has pitched weel enough to stay in the rotation. i read that ascanio was called up to audition for other teams for a possible trade in the future. can’t remember where though…
You ARE freaking out MAN!
I agree - I think Wells will go to the pen.
I hope he can thrive there.
That’s interesting about a potential trade of Ascanio. Can’t say I’m thrilled with the idea, as I’d like to see the Cubs hang on to every potentially decent bullpen arm they have until they figure out precisely who will give them the best chance to win this season.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
The reason Marshall might go to the pen
(having problems getting reply to work so posting as a new comment)
Lou has been hinting that this is a possibility. The reason is that Cotts has been a disaster as the only lefty in the bullpen, so putting Marshall in the bullpen gives him a 2nd lefthanded option there.
Now we all know that Marshall is not a loogy, and that a quality bullpen pitcher should be able to get a batter out no matter what side the batter hits from or the pitchers throws from, but in Lous mind, he needs a “reliable” lefthander out there and Marshall is his only option.

Yeah, I understand the rationale...
…but I’d still prefer to see Marshall retain his spot in the rotation. Having a lefty reliever just to have one seems a little silly. And as good as Wells has looked as a starter, he has a long way to go to match Marshall’s experience.
