New BCB User Statistic: KOWZR

I herby present the Kommentor Zone Rating System for the statistical evaluation of commentors on BCB.

at first blush this stat should be defined as:

[(REC's)+ (DAVR-BLOU)+(SWLs)] / (P+C)

REC's = # of rec's received on posts or comments

DAVR = number of  replies to your post/comments

BLOU = number of replies calling you a major ass/requesting you pound sand

SWLs = funny or timely pictures posted

P= # of posts made

C= # of comments made

There should also be some accomodation for comments or stances that are heckled at the time but turn out to be so way correct that you are considered forever awesome (ie: all The Riot and Hoffpauir official athletic supporters).

Possibly including extra points if you start a running gag that sticks- not sure on that abbreviation yet.

Of course there should be a plus/minus system in place to determine our value over replacement level (cubs.com message board comments?) and the Zones could be defined as

  • newbie
  • occasional poster
  • highly flammable
  • serial posters
  • I truly have no life outside of BCB

All in all I think this will at least be as valuable to conversation as discussing defensive statistics. Please feel free to heap your praise in the comments below.

Al, if you need help implementing this I can lend some programming help so we can add this to our user pages.

Well, let me just say...

…that I’m honored to be immortalized in this fashion. Please note that I believe you need at least 1,000 comments to eliminate any errors or misjudgments under the KOWZR system. I can’t wait until Fangraphs picks this up.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

my two cents

newbie
occasional poster
highly flammable
serial posters
I truly have no life outside of BCB

that could be configured by taking your number of posts, divide by the amount of days you have been signed up (hey, if you signed up and didnt post for 5 years, that just makes you a 38 year old BCB Rookie). then you have to add a twist to it, in order to get the complete f/x by subtracting the amount of spelling errors, comments where you are posting Unicorns while talking to yourself, or where you are sandbagging (making three posts in a row with one word in each post). You then take that number and multiply by Pi and add the average total wins over the past three years that the Cubs have had, and subtract the average loses as well.

 Any running theme (gag, nickname, etc) are all awarded based on how often it is used. If it is used in gamethreads often, then it awards you 5 yellow stars. If it is not used often, you get between 4 and -5 stars for iit. If it really flops, and no one likes it, you lose 5 stars.

This should leave each of us with some number that is much larger than it is important, meaning we all can look much better than the evil BCB posters.

If you post something that has been posted twice in the last two days (ahem, not searching before posting) or if you get booed so much you have to remove your FanPost/FanShot, then you are exiled to the opposing teams game thread for the next series (our version of being sent to AAA).

Of course, being Clutche eliminates you from all importance of the thread.

I made a dreadful mistake in leaving out pi and upon further review the constant e…
also the lack of Unicorn horn length adjustment and effect each post/comment has on a cubs victory that day (erin andrews/denise richards et al) need to be included.

I must immediatly begin my work on creating the new and improved adjusted KOWZR-
to of course be abbreviated: aKOWZR
