Soriano and The Miz have confrontation.
Anyone who might have been at the Allstate Arena or saw on TV witnessed ex-reality star and now WWE wrestler, The Miz confront Alfonso Soriano who was ringside for the event.
The Miz began his interview by calling the winner of the last match a "lovable loser". You know where this led to. He then called out Soriano to come into the ring and fight him. Before Soriano could Miz got a "phone call" from Lou Pinella who stated he'd rather see Soriano get his annual injury on the field instead of the ring.
Later in the show, John Cena who does the trademark "You Can't See Me" did it with Soriano after his match. I'll try to grab a still at work tomorrow and post it here for anyone who might want to see it.
Here are some photos from the Miz and Soriano: http://www.wwe.com/shows/judgmentday/photos/mizspeaks/
Also, in other observation the Bears were there and so was Rich Harden and Ryan Theriot. Theriot was on the other side of the front row about 30 seats down from Soriano and you could tell he was absolutely not enjoying himself there. They didn't put him on TV. Harden was not in the front but rather nose bleeds. He doesn't seem to get that he can get free tickets so he just purchases them day of.
So my final note from the fun Soriano/Miz incident is what do you guys think about Cubs being in other forms of media. If it's jokes on Family Guy or wrestling or whatever else. While I'm not allowed to promote looking for this on YouTube, if they post the segment with Soriano/Miz on wwe.com check it out!

I had to Google “The Miz” because the most I know about wrestling comes from Rourke’s THE WRESTLER. Any guy that is a Real World alum…I kinda have a hard time taking seriously. Well, not kinda, I do.

Without a doubt
But the fact is, the players got to have some fun and as Cubs fans I think it’s cool to watch all forms of entertainment with our players. Just like Mike Fontenot showing up on TBS I think next week for “My Boys”.
And here I thought.....
… this was going to be about Soriano having a problem with his wife. Shows how out of touch I am, and I used to do free lance writing for WCW back inthe 90’s.

Really??
Can you explain your job? I find that very interesting.
I didn't get the players I wanted in the offseason!! Hopefully I get what I want in the Regular Season---The World Series Trophy!! Go Cubbies!!
You asked the wrong person.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
Awesome pics
I don’t really like wrestling but this is awesome. If somebody does find video- please post the link.
Hey the Cubs are good again! This will be a good test of a sig jinx.
Found the video
Pretty funny stuff but a little harsh.

I love the call from Lou
funny, but a bit personal IMO. I love that thru it all Sori was able to smile in the end, but would not expect him to be an actor anytime soon.
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
Soriano just stood there
what’s with that?

Thought the same thing.
Why would Sori agree to that? He just stood there and let that guy talk trash the whole time!
later in the PPV
he and Cena did the “You Cant See Me” together and Sori looked less like a numrod that time.
Like i said above, Sori is a bad actor. IMO it might have been better to have attacked Cutler since he is a Bear and both Sox and Cub fans would have united in that one.

Well, I'm no fan of professional wrestling...
…but that was pretty entertaining. Hey, if this lunkhead is the one lighting the fire under Soriano’s bat (hello .923 OPS thus far!), he can keep talkin’. As long as Alfonso stays out of the ring and its associated injury risks, he can play a supporting role in this theater of the absurd all he likes.

too bad that cli
didnt include Santino defending his “Italian” friend Alfonso Soriano

Even with the name Alfonso?
I could have sworn thats Italian?
Do you apply this logic to Geovany Soto as well?

daver
not sure if you caught the PPV or not, but a WWE Superstar called Alfonso Soriano Italian based on the name, as part of his gimick, nothign more. And that is what the above is about.
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
I watched only the clip that was posted.
(And I was just kidding.)

its part of the same segment
but the clip ended before it happened, and that was the funnier part (which is why I wish it were there)
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
It was sarcasm
One of the “dumber” wrestlers made that assumption about Soriano in the ring.

You didnt really think I didnt know that?
I was talking about the PPV, Santino came out to defend Soriano, hit “Italian” brother. The crowd and Soriano got a good laugh frmo it.

I'm sure you were quite happy that you got Sori to play along

Soriano wanted to
He’s a gigantic fan and wanted to be there.
I heard the audio on AM 1000. I thought it was kinda lame, especially if Fonzie agreed to be ripped on! It was a pretty lengthy rant, typical wrestling trash talk garbage. Fonzie should have shown this clown his paycheck, unless that wasn’t in the script!
It was no different last year
They ripped on Fontenot, Dempster and Howry after the show.
What show was that on?
Is it on ESPN’s website or a specific show?
It's pro-wrestling guys
It is a joke- the wrestler is a ‘bad guy’ and people don’t like him.
Soriano was in on the joke and so was the rest of the crowd (except possibly some of the truly non-functioning brain-dead White Sox fans). I really doubt that is the first time Soriano heard the lovable loser/101 year thing and had to stand there and not say anything back.
I’m glad they didn’t ask him to say something stupid ala AJ Pierzinskinov who actually plays the villain in real life MLB.

As far as I'm concerned
Wrestling is worthless tripe and anyone who watches it does so at their own peril of losing millions of brain cells per second.
I mean "Professional Wrestling"
not collegiate/olympic varieties. Those are good sports to get involved in.
