Brooks Kieschnick has some ill will and some regrets
Found this interesting interview with Brooks Kieschnick, including the quote...
"You know, honestly, I knew my career was in trouble the minute the Cubs drafted me. (laughs)"
I am sure Brewers fans are giggling themselves silly over that line.

If the guy had any talent
this might be interesting. But, he’s a failed position player. That’s on him.

If the Cubs had had any brains in that era...
… they’d have converted him to pitching full time. He might have made a decent relief pitcher. It was ridiculous for the Cubs to have drafted him as a hitter, he had no position.

+1
Kieschnick was a great pitcher at the University of Texas. Pitchers are more in demand than outfielders. The White Sox made Bobby Thigpen of Mississippi State a full-time pitcher. Thigpen played a lot of outfield in Starkville. Maybe, Kieschnick could have been a quality relief pitcher.

Wow, what a bitter person.
Blaming someone else for his failures? That’s pretty pathetic.

The same?
You mean the same Brooks Kieschnick that I saw choking down cigarettes with a permanent beer belly while trying to entice presumed single women at Game 1 of the Boston-Colorado World Series a couple of year ago? That same Brooks Kiechnick? The guy that has slipped into irrelevancy but holds onto his MLBPA card? Oh, that’s the guy…
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?

To be fair the Kieschnick
The Cubs of 1993 were a completely clueless organization. That’s probably what he was referring to.
I consider the era between Dallas Green’s firing in 1987 and Andy MacPhail’s hiring in 1994 to be the dark ages. The Cubs completely destroyed their farm system and ran Greg Maddux out of town.
That’s how horrible they were in that period. Andy MacPhail was a major step up.

What a chump
Talent and hardwork prevail on the field. Excuses are the lament of the failed. You weren’t that talented Brooks, and you admit you didn’t work as hard as you could have. This is one of the most infuriating things to come across. Guys that had marginal talent that could have maybe made it, but they pissed it away.
