5 LOB already

I hate when they put numbers on things like that.

Not so much, no.

Not until we’re looking back at them in the standings.

by znohitter on May 22, 2009 10:06 PM CDT up reply actions

I was at that game tonight. The Royals looked like the Cubs did on Tuesday- no patience at the plate, hitting the ball right to defenders.

Quick Miles!

Ground into the DP. We can’t have these things called “baserunners”.

It is very true

Heads down. Depressing. Acting like they are losers.

You're not going to have good body language

or look good when you’re scoring zero runs.

by Allie on May 22, 2009 10:16 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm not seeing it

Not that they’re doing handstands, but I’ll leave that to the amateur psychiatrists.

I asked

because people tend to see what they expect to see..

by CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) on May 22, 2009 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep

I think it’s more projection than acutal bad body language.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 22, 2009 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions

I just don't know what people expect to see

If they were sitting in the dugout yuckin’ it up, we’d all be pissed that they weren’t taking it “seriously” enough.

by Allie on May 22, 2009 10:19 PM CDT up reply actions

I would expect to see that they're still trying hard to win every game

and don’t blame them if they’re showing some disappointment when they fail

Some this week (not so far in this game thread) have made it sound like they’re walking around sulking like a bunch of emo teenagers…

by CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) on May 22, 2009 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't nobody know... the trouble I've seen...

They’ve restarted the fireworks at Navy pier… and they are officially more exciting than the Cubs right now. Ooooh… they just had a firework in the shape of a smiley face…

by Hilary Lee on May 22, 2009 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

The Nats game was more exciting.

I want to die just typing that.

I will say....

when is the last game we faced a really crappy pitcher. Someone really crappy that it seems everyone else gets to face regularly.

we beat Oswalt, so … that cancels it out.

Ok?

No. But its a little easier to get over.

If the pitching stunk

I’d be a lot more concerned. You figure the hitting will come around at some point.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 22, 2009 10:29 PM CDT reply actions

It's funny...

Normally I’d say a 1-0 pitching duel between Big Z and Peavy would make for a great game, but in the first inning when the Padres scored that run I got a sick feeling in my stomach…

Wow, Judd's ineptitude never ceases to amaze me.

by jaxinnabox on May 22, 2009 10:40 PM CDT up reply actions

Stop it right there

No DeRo talk. He’s irrelevant. So is Wood, because pitching has been solid.

Not having Ramirez hurts. But it shouldn’t hurt this much, considering who they still have.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 22, 2009 10:41 PM CDT up reply actions

True.

Although for the sake of argument, he can pick this team up and carry it from time to time. But then again, so can Lee or Sori.

by znohitter on May 22, 2009 10:42 PM CDT up reply actions

That is a really good question

We havent played the Pirates yet, and they always make teams feel better? Ramirez makes good pitchers uneasy, cuz he actually hits good pitching. Another year older and slower. They are self-aggrandizing bastards who thought it was going to be given to them this season and they were wayyyy off?

"How's your mother?"
"She's on her way out."
"We all are. Act accordingly."

by louslovechild on May 22, 2009 10:40 PM CDT up reply actions

The last point

speaks to effort. I don’t see a lack of effort.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 22, 2009 10:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Hmmm

Old explains Lee. Fontenot getting a full time gig when he prob shouldnt have explains another. Bench players who really are not very good. Paying players based on one great season *Bradley. We are playing bad. We are not a bad team. Just playing bad now. Not sure if champ teams have droughts like this, but who knows.

People were saying the exact same thing about Soriano in his first season. Sometimes it takes a little bit to get in a goove.

Aaron Miles is career .286 hitter. He’ll get it together.
