Josh Harrison?
Hello-
I was wondering what everybody thinks of Harrison. I see he's played some 2B and LF this year and was an 08 draft pick. Obviously he's a bit old for his level- 21 in the MWL but you can't really argue with .381/.412/.561. Those 14 doubles could easily turn into HR's too in a more homer friendly league since the MWL isn't exactly kind for that, but his size probably says he won't ever hit for a ton of power.
What do you guys think of him and what does the Cubs brass think at this point? Seems to me like he could be a pretty good sleeper prospect and should probably get promoted soon.

I liked him coming out of the draft
he has some defensive versatility, but from what I’ve heard, he’s not exactly great with the glove. His speed is a big part of his game. I don’t really know if he has doubles power that can develop into home run power or if it’s just doubles power.
I think if he keeps going like this, he could carve a creer out in the majors as a utility player.
I am like your Dan Aykroyd and biglow would be Jane, the ignorant slut. -Chad

average age
average age of hitters in the Midwest League this year is 21.7 so I don’t know how fair it is to call Harrison old for his level. As a 2008 draft pick there really isn’t anything wrong with Harrison spending the first half of the year in Peoria.

Value
If you get a 6th rounder to the big leauges with his bat and his utility value you’ve done a very fine job!

Heck
if you get a 6th rounder to the big leagues period you’ve done a good job.
I like Harrison although I do question what his upside is.
Josh Harrison trivia question: Can you name his uncle who was an outfielder on two different World Series Champions?

Eh
Probably a utility guy in the majors if he makes it that far.
He’ll have to prove himself at every level; no one’s going to give him a free pass if he struggles. The guy is a decent hitter and has above average speed, but his power is pretty negligible and his defense needs a lot of work. He’s also really short (I’d eyeball him at about 5’6/5’7 rather than his listed height) and already filled out, meaning future power development is not going to be in the cards for him.
I’m happy for his success and all, but frankly, he’s probably the fifth best hitting prospect in that Peoria lineup, behind Vitters, Flaherty, Burke, and Lake (in that order). I know he’s producing better than some of those guys listed, but all of those guys have better tools, better potential, and, with the exception of Flaherty, are younger than him.
