I know Z is a good hitter.....
but for a pitcher, not overall…..how could Lou not bring in Kosuke or even Fontenot there, especially after Pitt committed to the righty.

Could not agree more
a poorly constructed roster does should not detract from the fact that Lou uses it poorly.
This will be the first question asked to Lou tonight, I'm sure of it.
"The riches of the game are in the thrills, not the money." --Ernie Banks
and his answer will be "what can I do?"
then he’ll hold his hands out wide, and ask it again. I don’t think he’s got the fire to do this thing anymore. He seems content to use the bad things that have happened to this team as a cure-all excuse.

Theriot is not the problem
But he also is not the soluion. WE need Soriano, Bradley, Lee and Soto to all do far better than they have been. We also need to really revaluate this bullpen and the middle infield.
Not the only one but certainly
.248 and 5 homeruns along with some nagging injuries is not good enough. Not even close.
Lee's OPS in May
is over 1.000
he’s the hottest bat we’ve got right now.. maybe that’s sad, but it’s true
by CubFanInCanberra (9387milesfromWrigley) on May 25, 2009 10:32 PM CDT up reply actions
Too bad...
we need him over the whole season. A .270 BA, 18 HR, and 75 RBI is unacceptable for a Cubs 1B. Especially at $14 mil/year

True
But he still needs to do better. Each of them could increse their average by about .50 points, excepting maybe Soriano, who is struggling.
Because he is doing well enough for you
or because there are 20 other more pressing problems. Im in the latter camp. He needs to do better but he is not the most pressing problem.

He's had a good month.
If he continues with that I have no problem. There are other problems that need to be addressed more than Derrek.
this may sound dumb
but i dont really care if the cubs trade everybody this year. If they can’t play competitively, then get rid of all the terrible contracts. I’m saying all of this would apply if the cubs continue to play poorly.
Besides, they couldn't do it anyway

If I were at the game
I would throw something onto the field and boo until I was removed from the park.

If the Cubs were an international soccer team they'd be called Scotland.

Even though we lost, it felt good to score some runs.

It would appear a few players are starting to wake up
Theriot did well, Soto squared the ball up a couple of times too

forgot him
he’s looking better too. If we could get Soriano going again, that would really help right now.

awwww..
can’t we rant and vent and turn on each other and everything to do with the Cubs?
won’t that help??

Someone said yesterday

I have had utmost faith that the Cubs would make the playoffs
That faith has been tested this year. Lets hope they turn it around and turn it quick. You can lose divisions in May.
These are the times that try men's souls

YES,
And it hurts like hell to see this continue….
Two baseballs hit that popped out of players gloves and led to runs
That’s some pretty bad luck.
At least Soto had a productive game. Maybe he’s coming around

is hard not to feel like this team is just snakebit right now..
isn’t luck supposed to even out?

offense has improved over last few games…
Maybe that will encourage the rotation to go back to kicking arse the way they have been through most of the losing streak…
