Iowa has Answers
After reviewing the statistics of AAA Iowa I think that some callups need to be conducted. Jake Fox is so hot that you can't help but give the guy a look. He's hitting .423 with 63 hits in only 40 games. Other outfielders such as Doug Deeds, from Ohio State, and veteran Jason Dubious are tearing up the PCL. It's a short term solution for our slumping offense, but I think it could help to give these guys like Fox that we haven't seen a solid chance at the Major League level.

Hmmm....
There’s a Fanpost topic that NEVER comes up around here ! Why not call up Jake Fox the DH !!!! Why didn’t we talk about this before !?!?!?

One of them can play defense
The other one is in store for a long career in AAA.

well the one can play defense for 3-4 week stretches before his leg explodes

BCB has the answers.
Really what we need to do is call up BLou to take over managing the Cubs. It’s obvious that Larry Rothschild is old and in decline. He’s the shadow of his former self. Mike Quade is overexposed at 3B, even with the batting helmet on. Gerald Perry is a guess-coaching hack, maddeningly inconsistent. Lou is fat. He looks like a former Starbucks addict who’s off the juice and on just bottled water now. I hate to say it, I really do. There’s just no other explanation. BLou needs to be called up to manage.
Derrek Lee is good.

this has been talked about alot
but yes Fox does need to be brought up. especially given that patton doesnt pitch. I say no to deeds and dubois though.

Didn't you get the memo?
Jason Dubious has been robbed of major league opportunity by the former Dusty Baker and current Lou Piniella. He needs to be given major league opportunity !!!

Hey this is a serious question, no sarcasm here:
Has anyone thought about Vitters?
It came across my mind the other day, what about calling him up in Ramirez’s abscense? It beats Scales, Fontenot and Freel, doesn’t it?
I don’t know what to think of it, honestly. There could be positives and negatives. Could he bring some life to this team?
I don’t know what kind of 3B he plays, defensively but maybe this should be looked at.

Agreed, however...,
With the good showing he’s having at A, how long until he should be considered for promotion to AA?
I understood the intent was for him to play most of the season at A and possibly earn a promotion to AA at year end, but with the current need at 3rd base, should that timetable be stepped up a month or two if he continues to tear up A ball?
Not saying he should be in the majors, but is he given a chance at AA to see if he can continue to grow in the event help is still needed in September at third.
if this was still new to me, i wouldn't understand
by N Oakley on May 26, 2009 8:39 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
He should absolutely be at Daytona right now.
If he dominates that level, he could be in AA by the end of the year.
Under NO circumstances would I put him in the major leagues before September 2010.

is his Options. It just makes no sense to start his options clock if he is only going to be used for a couple of months.

The closest thing....
Justin Upton at 19: .221 / .283 / .364.
That assumes he could even match those numbers. I don’t see it as the answer.

Another example
of how poorly run this organization is. I mean come on, how many outfielders/first basemen who can’t play defense can we have on one team?

We lived for 12 years with Sosa in RF. I’m sure we can live with Hoff’s defense.
