I hesitate to say thats to much
Given that a few years ago Hill and Pie seemed to much; ironically both are there now. If nothing else, this would solve the Shark starter v Shark reliever debate

i say no
and theres also the little publicized fact that the shark has a no trade clause.
It's not about money. It's about winning and getting over the hump. We've had the appetizer now, but we left the main course on the table.

I'd love to see it happen
We could certainly use Roberts and Shark, being a work in progress, and Cashner, wouldn’t be too stiff a price to pay IMO.
At the same time this is just one guy pulling trade ideas out of thin air. there’s zero reason to believe a trade like this would ever happen.

Samardzija has a no-trade clause
and if Perry did any research, he’d know that. There’s no way the Shark accepts a trade to Baltimore.
I’d probably do the trade otherwise.

Forgetting the merits of trading Shark
Is there ANYONE on this damn team without a no-trade clause?

gaaaaah!
i’m less sold on shark than i was a year ago, but i’d like to keep cashner around. trading our ‘cheap arm’ options for an expensive guy is a bad idea,
unless it is a move that you ‘really think’ will put you over the top.
but then, we could block thomas’ path to the bigs, so we can deal him for a reliever with an ERA in the mid fives. and a hefty three year deal. enough with the expensive vets. grow our own quality kids, or re-rack the ramirez trade (three guys we reaaaalllly didn’ t want for a short term fill-in at a need position and a future, not past, all-star).

I'd make the trade in a heartbeat....
…for all the same reasons that’ve been discussed ad nauseum for years now. OBP, steals, defense. He anchors both the offense and the defense in one fell swoop
As disagreeable as I find Mr Perry, the Cardinal fan, pretty much every trade he’s suggested would be just what the Dr ordered for all the teams involved. But as others have said—these are all ideas/theories and nothing more. Peavey would probably hate NYC—I HIGHLY doubt MacPhail would sign Roberts long term only to trade him shortly thereafter—The Braves may not have the quan for Holliday and trading Tommy Hanson for a 4 month rental on Holliday seems dumb….I’m not so sure Street is much of an upgrade over Rodney in the Tiger’s pen, etc, etc…

Dayn Perry is a Cardinals fan.
No wonder he wants to make this deal. No thanks. Cashner has the chance to be a real special pitcher.

Make the trade with Andy now
and in two years we can trade for Shark

Ah, this brings back sweet memories of the '07-'08 off-season.
We were so innocent then.
I think Hendry soured on just about any Roberts deal a long, long time ago. And I highly doubt he’d trade his treasured Notre Dame guy at this point. Plus, as mentioned above, Samardzija has an NTC, which he probably wouldn’t waive unless he and Rich Hill are better friends than any of us realize.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

I do that trade in a nanosecond if not for it being part of Dayn Perry's imagination
Peel back the onion and Samardizija simply isn’t a great pitching prospect. He’s got middling middle reliever written all over him. Cashner is a better pitching prospect and somebody who should have a bright major league future.
Cubs are built to win now, not tomorrow. I make that pretend trade NOW.
