Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

I just wanted to share this with everyone. I live in CT/NY so I don't see very many Cubs games. However I went to an Atlantic League game near me and sure enough one of the players was Adam Greenberg! I didn't have a program or anything so I did some research tonight and sure enough it's the same guy who had one at bat with the team!

I know...random, but I had no place else to share this and it's an interesting "Where are they now?".

Good for him.

Didn’t he have vision problems after his debut hit? I hope he succeeds.

I am planning to see Adam at the end of June

When his team plays the Newark Bears among whose players are Bobby Hill & Bobbie Brownlie as well as Carl Everett, Jay Gibbons Rob Mackowiak, Armando Benitez , Keith Foulke, Edgar Martinez and other former MLB players. I really look forward to watching Greenberg but I am kind of surprised he is hanging on.

I'll be there too

Is that the one in Newark or in Bridgeport. I’ll be at the Bridgeport game wearing a Cubs hat. We’ll be the only two doing that probably!

Newark I'm afraid

Edgar Martinez?

Glancing through your list of former MLB players, I saw the name “Edgar Martinez” and thought to myself…“wait a minute, Edgar Martinez, one of the best hitters that I’ve ever seen, is now playing in the Atlantic League?” Huh?

After a bit of googling, I think that the Edgar Martinez in question is this guy, a former Red Sox prospect that never made it into the show. I don’t want this post to sound critical, just a clarification because the comment picqued my curiousity as the former Mariner is among my favorite players of all time.

And BTW, why is Rob Mackowiak playing in the Atlantic League? That man was born to play for Joliet or Crestwood or Gary…if those teams can’t sign a scrappy south suburban native with slippery Slavic surname, they’ll never succeed.

Former Arkansas Traveler

I saw Greenberg a couple of years ago in North Little Rock playing for the Travs. I thought of him as a poor man’s Mike Fontenot. It doesn’t look like he’s going to make it back to the big leagues, but I’m glad he’s still playing pro ball somewhere.
