Umpires gone wild part 2
Umpire tosses both managers & starting catchers in his FIRST GAME. I have not seen the video but this seems bit much. Apparently the next generation is learning that it is more important to be macho than show restraint and good judgement.

So wait...
in the other thread, it was said the umps shouldn’t let it escalate. This guy didn’t.
But it’s bad.
I confused.

this one I think the problem
was the fast hook given
But Tichenor called Bailey safe, prompting an animated protest from Redmond. Tichenor tossed Redmond almost immediately after the catcher approached him.
(and)
"I just thought he had a quick gun there," Gardenhire said. "He just pulled the trigger too quick, and I went out to defend and he threw me out too."

This should have been named

I was watching this game.
Tichenor was out of control. There was no reason for the quick triggers. He’s a Triple-A umpire — I suspect he won’t be invited back anytime soon.

Video!
Here is the Varitek / Francona ejection
and….. here’ sthe Redmond / Gardenhire ejection
both seem like they must have either cursed out the ump’s Mom or he thought he was an NBA game.

First...
First video:
That was a ball. Varitek tried to frame it all nice, but it was a ball.
You can hear Beckett shouting profanities all the way from the mound.
Varitek stood up, jabbed his finger at the ump’s chest, and argued for at least a full 20 seconds before the ump finally threw him. You don’t know what was said and Varitek sure as hell isn’t going to be honest about it.
I would agree he was too quick on Redmond. But again, we don’t know what was said and I doubt Redmond will be honest.

So, once again
Make your call, shut up, pretend like you’re in your happy place while some overgrown brat making 100 times what you make gets in your face and yells at you.
Don’t yell back. Don’t gesture back. Don’t even look back if you can help it.
Forget the fact that the overgrown brat failed to make the play that is causing you all this grief, and that’s partially why he’s taking it out on you.
Forget the fact that any good team would be able to overcome one play anyway.
Forget the fact that your cousin the NBA ref could have issued a technical to calm things down, or your brother the NFL ref could have thrown a penalty flag.
Let them curse. Let them embarrass you. Let them incite the fans to where you have to have a police escort out of the stadium.
Walk away. Or else you’ll be blamed for “inciting” it even though the player shows no signs of calming down.
Rinse, lather and repeat.
Yeah, that’s realistic.

You've nailed it
Thats exactly how it should work. The Ump ought not to care about said “brats” on the field nor should he care about their salaries. His job is to make the calls and be as invisble as he can be. A little cursing here and there by the players is par for the course. This is baseball, suck it up and shut up. I always thought that Umps that let players vent a little always ended up looking like the more professional — bigger person. What you have now is two sets of whining brats – The Umps and the Players/Managers.

Yeah, it's baseball
So maybe the players should suck it up, shut up and do better.
97 percent of the “bad calls” are player failure.
Do better.

Great
now that we’ve established what’s really at the core of the problem, time to go talk to Watson and Selig and have them do something about it. Make public what their stance on it is. Publish what the rules for players whining are and clear up how the Umps are supposed to handle themselves in those situations. Obviously the current rule book is being ignored and the only people that seem to care are us fans.

I'm not suggesting
That the players should be exempt from shutting up what I am saying is that the Ump is in the best position to show professionalism on the field. He has every right to eject players when the situation calls for it, and such ejections can be made without getting involved in a heated verbal exchange. True enuff sometimes it may be called for, but it would be better if the Ump walked away and allowed the player to look like the idiot.

When an ump takes a job w/ MLB he knows (or at least should know)
that he will be working w/ people who make 100 times more than him and that players will do their best to get their way.
"That's what you live for. You live for the opportunity and when that day comes, you better be ready," Soto said. "I tried to make sure that whenever they gave me a chance, I was ready and I knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity."

I don't think a player yelling and cursing at you is embarassing you
I think he’s embarrassing himself.
An unfortunate amount of professional athletes act like overgrown children, preening like a peacock for the smallest of successes and throwing tantrums when they don’t get their way.
And when a child is screaming, desperate for attention, the last thing you should do is indulge them. Wait till their wails drop down to a point when your voice can be heard, and tell them they can either play ball or hit the showers.

this reminds me of when Rob Drake came up and kicked Ozzie and Lou out in a three day span
AAA umps come up and try to prove right away that they are tough guys.
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.
