If they did, then so did every Cubs fan.

They did need to get more left-handed.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I gave them the benefit of the doubt

until I had a chance to see how this team worked. So far it just doesn’t have the same offense, etc. I know we’re injury-ridden, but I still think DeRo brought an enormous amount to play

by Emelie on May 31, 2009 9:41 PM CDT up reply actions

That was a unique season

You’re not going to win 97 games every year, particularly the way they won some of them.

Standing pat wasn’t the answer. Particularly after what happened in the postseason. If Hendry was obsessed with lefties, so is every GM in baseball.

DeRosa was the most expendable player in their starting lineup. If he’s so great, why can’t he stick with a team? Why is Cleveland looking to deal him?

And this team still is a work in progress. What you’ve seen the first two months isn’t necessarily what you’ll see later, if everybody plays to their averages.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions

I get your point

but I think some fans’ DeRo obsession is worse than Hendry’s lefty obsession.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 9:45 PM CDT up reply actions

He needs to be IN EVERY GAME????

So his arm can fall off. He has been used twice in the last four games. That is not regular enough ? He needs to come in with the Cubs down by six and throw a shit load of pitches ?

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 9:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Twice in four games is fine

but you claimed he was put in NOW to because he needed “regular” work, I was pointing out he WAS WORKING regularly and this 22 pitch scary outing is NOT going to help him. He was in twice in four games BEFORE tonight so explain to me why he needed to be put in ?

by Doggie Stalker on May 31, 2009 9:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe if he came in Tuesday

in a tighter game, his appearance would be much more scary if he didn’t come in tonight and work out kinks.

And look, Gregg’s in in an 8-2 game. Are you complaining about that?

I don’t care for Steve Phillips, but he just gave the logic for it.

Cubs By The Numbers

Cubs By The Numbers is a history of the ballclub by uniform number, but the biographies help trace the history of our beloved team in a new way. For everyone who's a Cubs fan, anyone who ever wore the uniform is like family. Cubs By The Numbers reintroduces readers to some of their long-lost ancestors, even ones they think they already know.
