Marshall is going to the pen
I sit at home after the Cubs lose and wanna pound sand but I know I live in a state without that kinda land. I know in my heart Sori isn't a guess hitting hack and that Dero will never be back. Pitching is King, some do say and hopefully Aaron Miles doesn't play in a Cub uniform another day. By October this I know, to the playoffs we are for sure to go. Go Cubbies!!

If they are dissing the Cubs
and mentioning 1908, Bartman and you see the ugly mug of Joe Morgan, you have ESPN.

Yes.
He has been effective in every previous start which is more than you can say about Harden. Look I would like to think this shitty start
and Lou announcing that he will go to the pen WHEN Harden is healthy is a coincidence and that Marshall is a big boy ( which sure as hell is) who should not be effected by that but WTF. Why does Lou even have to say that . It serves no purpose but to make Marshall wonder about what Lou thinks about him. Lets just say inspiring players and trying to give them confidence has never been Lou’s strong
suite.

We don’t konw anything about what was said or not said between them. We don’t know who knows what.

by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions
I am sure Lou said something like
You have been doing a nice job kid but I need you in the Pen but the point is WHY DOES HE EVEN HAVE TO ANNOUNCE that Marshall is going to be moved to the pen AFTER Harden comes of the DL. Not like that is happening tomorrow and he is being pushed for an answer. Just stupid and I said this BEFORE Marshall had a bad first inning. What possible value was there in telling this to the press now ?

I have no idea
but if he was asked " are you going to move Marshall to the pen when Harden gets back" the CORRECT answer and the one I would presume Lou of all people would give is " I’ll decide that when the time comes ( and that is my cleaned up version). Why volunteer information on what is essentially a hypothetical situation ? Not like the press is going to complain if he didn’t and not like he would care if they did.

When Harden comes off the DL, someone has to go to the pen. They think that Marshall may be better suited for that then Wells. That’s ALL you can read into this.

rack em up!
I'm a lefty, maybe Lou should give me a shot for a position in the bullpen!!
Well the pen got some rest the last two days
We may need them to pick-up the slack a little this game
The sun will shine in '69
And the bar is finally idiot-free

that was horrible
he caught a break on the hit, got lucky taking third….what was he thinking trying to make it home on that short of a fly ball?
I dont blame him
Guy was sliding in the grass. Made a great play. Had to try to get one back there.
Not when your down 5
and in the second inning. Plenty of time to get those runs back without running into a inning ending DP
I believe
the pitcher’s spot was up next.

Might not be our night
Looked like a base hit for Scales and ends in a double play.
Great play by the rookie
Johnson was right to go. On a diving catch, he should.
by Not Bruce Froemming on May 31, 2009 7:51 PM CDT reply actions
too shallow to start even RF dives...
now my TV shows Ichiro’s highlight reel… he got 4 hits today and in the middle of 24 games in a row with basehits
What's the point in even sliding?
Need to plow into the catcher and try and knock the ball out. Sliding is pointless.
not even Reed Johnson
can be Ted Lilly.

Loney
grounds to Scales at second. Two outs, Kemp up.

Kemp
deep fly ball to left, out of the yard. 6-0 Dodgers.
"I don’t really play baseball, I feel it." -- Milton Bradley
It's gonna take a lot of offense tonight
at least 8 runs or more……can’t afford to waste chances when they get them
this game is hurting my eyes
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
Loretta to the plate.
Bounces it to Riot. Tough play, but Lee digs out the low throw. Three outs. 6-0 Dodgers.
"I don’t really play baseball, I feel it." -- Milton Bradley
Well, if it ends this way,
The Dodgers win a tight game and a blowout. The Cubs win a tight game and a blowout.
2-2. I’ll take it.

Sure
But they also have very good at bats, run the bases well, and pitch well.
When Manny is back they will also have some additional pop.
No saying the Cubs are bad, just like the way the Dodgers play.
with swagger

NHK is a public broadcasting
So I don’t have to watch silly commercial films between innings but highlight reels or stats etc
but you have to pay $200/yr to subscribe their 5 channels....

NHK does a nice job with baseball
Saw a few Yankees and Mariners games on NHK when I was in Japan in 2006. Games are on in the morning there.

That's good income for those clubs with Japanese players
and a part of reasons they hire players from NPB
by dragonsfanatic on May 31, 2009 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions
One small problem with NHK ...
They allot only a certain amount of time to the game. If it goes over the limit, they switch to the regularly scheduled program.
I was in Japan in 2006 waiting for a flight and the Mariners game was on. Something like man on second, game tied, Ichiro is up, ninth inning. Count goes full, here’s the pitch and they switch to a children’s show. I believe Ichiro got a hit to win the game.
Quite a few disappointed fans at the airport that day.
I think I would rather have NHK audio
than ESPN audio
depends on favorite commentary or not
and English side is more informative…
by dragonsfanatic on May 31, 2009 8:03 PM CDT up reply actions
but no Joe Morgan on NHK
and I can understand a little Japanese :D

want to know reasons…. talking bad or past bad experience against Cubs?
It's not that he doesn't know anything...
It’s just that he knows so much that isn’t so.
