Gathright traded to the O's - Cubs get Ryan Freel
What does this mean for Bobby Scales? I'm not sure Ryan Freel is that much of an upgrade for the team versus Scales.
When will Ryan Freel get hurt again? What do you think the over/under is?
I guess he is somewhat of a poor man's Mark DeRosa because he can play IF & OF.
Anyway, a penny for your thoughts and more and more and more and more.

I wouldn't..........
mention Freel and DeRo in the same sentence.
If you had to choose just one characteristic that would get you through life, choose a sense of humor.
Yep, DeRosa is a HOF LOL!!!
Sure helping the Tribe getting off to a great start.
Does Freel still have IT
He used to be a spark plug and I like the idea of him. The question is if the injuries have affected his abilities. There’s no risk here, so I like the move, but it’s not guaranteed to work out. It doesn’t hurt us and he can team up with Theriot and Fontenot to increse our scrappiness.

Nevermind, I did already.
But let the record show…I was first!

There's only one FanPost and FanShot left.
I put the FanShot on the front page because it had more comments.
There will be more from me in the game preview post, which will be up at 5 pm CDT.

Ivy Walls?
You mean lemon20pie? That was the first one, I believe.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.
you're right
wrong name.

I could've actually won the Fanshot lottery on this one...
…but I settled for sending out a tweet about the trade before Gordon Wittenmyer. Made my Friday, lemme tell ya.

hope he doesnt break hiss arm doing so
baseball is a game of outs......pop out, ground out, line out, pitch out, strike out, fly out, and Fox and Bud's favorite black out
as long as he can handle
being a bench player, and isn’t a d!ck, he’ll be fine, I guess.

This is a great move!!
Freel is a definite spark plug, he can play all infield positions, and the OF as well. Depending on what he has left on the tires, he could probably still play CF if need be. This gives us what we have needed since the beginning of the year; a suitable back-up at 3B for Rami. I know that he has been unhappy in Baltimore b/c he wanted to be in a winning situation, so now he is… I expect him to show an immediate dividend to our boys in blue. What a great trade to get him for Cable… good job Jim Hendry!
I'm a truth teller, I'm a risk taker, I'm like Johnny Cash - I walk the line...
I still remember
the diving catch he made against the wall along the third base line in that 11-10 walkoff thriller (when Sosa and Alou went back-to-back in the 9th) against Cincinnati in 2004. He’s got some grit.

Here at my house
The trade broke like this:
Rob, “The Cubs just traded Gathright.”
Me, “Great! That’s fabulous. Who’d we get?”
Thus the regard for Gathright. Freel is a bonus, getting rid of Gathright is a real plus.

In all fairness to Mr. Freel
His latest injury was b/c he got hit with a throw, so its hardly his fault, unless he has an abnormally large head i suppose.
he definitely brings grit and passion to the team, so he cant be worse than Gathright or Miles….so I say good move Jimbo
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
What a steal!
Freel was always a pest with the Reds, and he is a much smarter and more versatile player then Gathright. Also no one could swing the bat worse then Joey so that is an upgrade. I like the move.
Now Lou is happy to have a RH batter

What is that like the 400th trade Hendry has made with the Orioles over the last 3 years?
