You just had Blum swing at two high pitches. You should have thrown the next one a little higher. Instead Soto calls for a pitch low and away. Same position as the previous two pitches, but in the strike zone. Bad pitch location.

not sure what Soto called...

but the pitch that Blum hit into center was almost the same location as the previous two… maybe a tad lower..

I'd settle for 4

and a win.

If we could just score 4 runs consistently with the pitching we’ve been getting, everything would feel so much easier.

Another 0-fer

for RISP. This team seems to have no plan of attack when approaching the plate. Tonight’s only run was from a HR.

just gotta keep in mind, this is the group of games when the Cubs turn it around

We had our losing streak, now we’re figuring out how to win, we’re gonna fight through interleague play, and then be hitting on all cylinders once Aramis comes back.

Yes, it blows to lose a close one, but we will get em tomorrow!

This loss

really doesn’t bother me much, because I don’t think the Cubs really had any good chances in it.

Some games, the Cubs have done in themselves. This game, I think I’ll credit the Astros.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 10, 2009 9:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Not as bad as some

but still 7 LOB and another 0-fer-3 with RISP.

Just an annoying trend. And I know every team has them. But if we don’t find a way to get more consistant and better…

Games like this will drive us nuts in Sept and we’re 3 games out of the WC.

Yeah, but really,

they didn’t have a great scoring chance all night. Not like some other nights in recent memory.

The other team does try to prevent the Cubs from scoring, after all …

I do agree wtih Canberra, however, about winning series.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 10, 2009 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions

I know

And I agree definitely with the winning series

I think I started to feel it

.. when we gritted out that 14 inning game… and much more last night… just my feeling though…

I didn't feel anything other than sorta pissed at that 14 inning game

it took us a game and half to score 6 runs… against the reds.

last night felt better… but moehler isn’t good so its hard to tell.

The 14-inning game was, I think, a turning point

.. almost as much because of what it would have meant to lose that one. Imagine how gutted we would have felt if we’d lost!

But we won it.. and have been slowly clawing up the standings since the big losing streak… I’ll admit that I’m probably more optimistic than most here, but the flame of my optimism was flickering dangerously there and has gotten stronger lately… :)

My optimism has flagged a lot over the last few weeks

I just don’t feel it. Whatever it is. :-P

but. I’m glad you’re positive. Maybe we put together a few non-crap games in a row and I’ll feel better too. :-)

Hope you have a great day!

If Lou is gonna play Miles

and Bradley, then this team has no chance, ever! I don’t care if Miles is getting $15 million per year, Hehasn’t earned the right to play, period. Stop this insanity now! Bradley is worthless. Absolutely unacceptable.
