8-10 Cubs Scouts at Tigers v. Sox game to scout Fields???

So I work in a "Sox dominant" office.  Apparently, one of their Sox sources informed them that there were numerous Cubs scouts at the Sox v. Tigers game to watch Fields.  I know that everyone is going to ask for a link and obviously I don't have one so I figured I would pass this information along for a few reasons:

1. Al- has Deep Goat mentioned anything about this?

2. Is this why Miles is back-up for a show case?

3. Who would the Sox want?

Thanks to all that can either add fuel to this rumor or put it out.

or Polanco?

I definitely don’t see the Cubs trading for Fields.

The Tigers are in first place

I don’t think they will be trading their starting 3rd basemen who is putting up very good offensive numbers and is an excellent defender.

Did it occur to you that the Cubs play these two teams next week?

One day I hope to come up with something worthy of this space.

This.

Unless they want to do a Fields for Miles swap (a man can dream)…

Someday we'll go all the way...

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As for there being that many scouts in attendance, there are probably several teams represented to look at Jermaine Dye, Octavio Dotel and Bobby Jenks… who are all rumored to be on the market.

Who on Earth would want Aaron Miles on their team?

8-10 scouts?

Doubt it. Why would they need more than a couple of guys?

Agree...

…No team would ever send 8 scouts to either write up reports on an upcoming opponent or to scout a player for a potential trade.

The Tribune said 8 or so scouts at Sox/Tigers game...

… but I took it to mean scouts from various teams, not 8 from the Cubs. Why the Cubs would need 8 scouts at one game is beyond me.

That makes more sense.

Eight scouts from among all the ML teams at one game wouldn’t be unusual.

Not only would 8 scouts....

…from one team make no sense, I’m not sure the Cubs even have 8 major leage level scouts.

hey guess what

The cubs play both the Sox and the Tigers in the coming weeks. Not everything is about trades. Maybe they are just advanced scouting the teams players for the series…

by Kchance on Jun 10, 2009 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

also im pretty sure i read

the same article you did and it said 8 -10 major league scouts. Cubs and padres represented by 2 and 6 other teams had one each

How on Earth

is Fields any differnt than Fox?

I have a hard time believing this one.

by jerry morales rules on Jun 10, 2009 1:43 PM CDT reply actions

Fox is a better hitter, Fields is better fielder (but not by much).

don't want Fields...

I don’t want Fields, but They could want Jake Fox. Apparently our Farm System hasn’t been able to teach him how to play defense and with the recent Konerko injury and Thome in the final year of his deal, Fox could be a good addition for them.
