Huh.
We just used all of our Outfielders. Bradley’s still in. I think this is Lou’s way of telling us he’s sticking with his guy. Risky, but respectable.

pops out. 6-4 Twins. On to the 9th.
I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.
and I'm into another meeting.

What a joke. Getting killed by the Twins, Bradley not knowing what the hell is going on, and Soriano playing second base. Good, now we have 5 second basemen.

I'm sure Lou
would love to “shake things up”
but how?
This is a horrible roster……….Bradley is NOT coming out of the lineup…….and if he does…..who in the hell takes his place?
The “old” Lou would go apeshit over something like that……….the just simply old Lou will just laugh it off after the game. They very well could be completely out of it by the All Star break………..they are fortunate that no one ahead of them is hot right now and lucky that they have some decent starting pitching
Dome 5-3

1 pitch...one out
what happened to dome’s patience and pitches seen per plate appearance…guess that went
bye-bye when deRo was let go
Of all the things that DeRosa's exit might have resulted in...
I really doubt that’s the reason for Dome’s ostensible lack of patience at the plate…

Its time to let Reed Johnson

Dome is the epitome of an everyday guy.
Smartest player on the field. Saves our butt with his defense, and can hit.

by Jimmyeatworld on Jun 12, 2009 4:20 PM CDT up reply actions
I like that
Saves our butt with our defense: He is a right fielder playing center. His defense is certainly fine, but Reed’s is too.
He can hit: If you havent been convinced otherwise yet you likely wont be. Kosuke is a .250 MLB hitter, with very little pop and only decent speed. CF’s of his ability are a dime a dozen. In fact we have one sitting on our bench making about a 1/4 of the money, Reed Johnson.
You are short sighted...
He plays CF seamlessly, can play all outfield positions. He is a .250 hitter with only a yr. and a half, (almost), of MLB experience. He has more than decent speed, as evidenced by his play in CF. He is certainly not a dime a dozen. Furthermore, RJ doesn’t hit righties, look at his splits, and has a bad back. Start him everyday, and he won’t be here past the all star break.
I'm a truth teller, I'm a risk taker, I'm like Johnny Cash - I walk the line...

All right, kids
I’m out – gonna try and stay off the sauce tonight. Not real sure that’s gonna work out, but I’ll try

Later everyone..
It’s been very interesting to say the least. Time to get back to the real world though.

What Wells is thinking
NOW THEY SCORE 4 F(&^%$$ING runs when I started.
"I daydream just like everybody else, I just do it with my body facing the field, so everybody thinks I'm paying attention."- Greg Maddux
This is just plain bad baseball
No excuses, no silver linings, no hoping against hope for a turnaround. At the end of the day, this collective group of players has to stand up and look in the mirror and no matter what personal achievements they believe they they may have accomplished, and admit that they are playing bad, bad, bad baseball with regularity. I don’t want to hear “it’s early”. I don’t want to hear “we’ll get there, we have to”. Shut up. Play baseball….the correct way. Pretend you care, take professional approaches to the plate, run the bases fundamentally sound, play good defense, concentrate on the mound. And then do it again tomorrow. Then and only then, will this team turn it around.
No magic rainbows or lucky coins will turn this around. Period.

Excellent post
no more excuses or " we like where we are"
Agreed.
This is not a good team, the manager seems to have all but given up and the players are pretty much just going through the motions. There’s zero fire here and that’s the kind of condition, unfortunately that isn’t going to just magically get better.
This reminds me so much of the Cubs teams that I grew up watching in the mid-70’s. They pretty much went out there expecting to lose and this team doesn’t look any different to me.
On the plus side, at least they’re not going to string us along all summer and then roll over in the playoffs. The only way this team is going to see the post season is on TV. I just wish I could see some evidence that any of them care.

Wells
And this may be harsh but quite honestly, I couldn’t care less if Randy Wells went 0-21 as long as it meant the Cubs won all 21 of them. Team wins are important. Individual wins are not. I wish everyone in the media would quit writing about the lack of run support for him. This is a team game, individual stuff is secondary. Pat Wells on the back for doing his job and move on. No more pity parties for Randy Wells.
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
You may in fact be crazy.
Randy Wells does not magically make the team hit or not hit. He’s done pretty well. Back off.

Lou on the post game press conf..

> I don’t have any answers..
>Wells has done a heck of a job
>Bradley had a bad day
>Lou is enamored with Joe Mauer
>They swing the bats today, we had a few opportunities but..uh huh…let’s go and get em tomorrow
>I don’t know what else to say.
>I am sure he (Bradley) is somewhat embrassed by it….
>Today has been better than it’s been
>Kept Soriano at 2nd because Hoff might come up in 9th..but it didn’t happen
>Fukudome is not staying on the ball. Swings getting a little longer…….
>Thank you
No, Lou...
Thank YOU.

Gone
If Lou doesn’t have any answers, he should be shown the door. Yes, that is harsh but it’s his job to find the answers, otherwise every single one of us could take turns at managing the club. He’s highly compensated to manage the team, if he’s not able to do that, hand the keys over.
And honestly, I don’t think it’s his fault for the most part. Yes, there were times he could have done some different things or he did things that hurt the club on a given day, but at the end of the day, he’s still not taking the AB’s on a regular basis. He may as well hit for Miles, but I digress.
But if that is the stance he takes, get rid of him no matter what the back of his managerial baseball card shows. If he’s done…he should be gone.

Managers just can't...
…flip a switch, and make underperforming players all of a sudden play to their abilities. It would be nice if it was that easy, but if you have watched baseball for any length of time, you already know this.
Besides the starting pitching, the club has just not performed to date and it’s up to the players to kick it in the ass and take some pride in what they do. Just as I never put the bulk of the blame on Baker in his last couple of years. If you think the problem here is the manager, you are sadly mistaken.

Point 3 is good
I don’t really understand the rest of them. Well, except for point 7, which is what I was afraid of

If you repeated Lou's explanation to you boss...........
after a 2nd quarter revenue loss of $10,000,000 your department was responsible for…………
Would you have a job Monday?
If you had to choose just one characteristic that would get you through life, choose a sense of humor.
That depends...is it a government or union job? If so, then yeah, probably. If no, then of course not.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

If he was anybody but Lou Pinella (or maybe Joe Torre)
he’d have already been launched by now.
Hendry isn’t going to do it though. I don’t see Lou quitting either and, at this point, I really don’t see what kind of a difference it will make anyway.

Blah.
I’m out. Lame game. Boo Bradley.
Lou, get some energy, please.

Does it really matter...
…what Kaplan thinks??? The guy is as goofy as Bradley himself, just in a different way.
It’s a long year, but the lug nuts are definately loose on the Cub’s mobile. This club could finish 4th or it could finish 1st, it all depends on whether Bradley, lee, Soto and Soriano have it in them to step up – especially with Ramirez on the shelf.
