Nice Theriot

Does anyone believe

That the Cubs may literally have a curse over their franchise…or do you guys believe it’s all just a big joke…cause I’m really starting to ponder if that’s possible…

by sillybilly34 on Jun 13, 2009 1:40 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No such thing as a curse

Just lousy play.

This line from a movie, television show or other piece of popular culture pretty much sums up my entire personality.

No

but times like this make you wonder.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 13, 2009 1:41 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah...

I mean…as much as I love the Cubs with everything in me…and will never stop rooting for them, it’s just strange how terribly “cursed” this franchise has been in all areas and just the eerie ways we have lost games and series in the past makes me think maybe franchises can be cursed…

by sillybilly34 on Jun 13, 2009 1:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The way they are playing now

Is not an example of a curse. Last year’s playoffs would be an example of a curse. A curse isn’t a curse if you see it coming. It has to sneak up on you and rip your beating heart out while you watch. Kind of like in Indiana Jones.

by hmlee on Jun 13, 2009 1:42 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No...

I definitely don’t want to speak those words over my beloved Cubs…but it’s just crossed my mind, especially after some Bosox and Cards fans I know were talking trash to me…

He and Wells need to change their nickname to “Desdichado” — the “disinherited one” — their offense has left them.

Question

If you could pick up a player for the remainder of the season for the Cubs who would it be? – the NL Central players that is…
I would have to say Hanley Ramirez for SS

by sillybilly34 on Jun 13, 2009 1:54 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Hanley plays

in the NL east…

by hmlee on Jun 13, 2009 1:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Large Man with Dead Body: Here’s one.
The Dead Collector: That’ll be ninepence.
The Cubs Offense: I’m not dead.
The Dead Collector: What?

Large Man with Dead Body: No you’re not, you’ll be stone dead in a moment.
The Dead Collector: Well, I can’t take him like that. It’s against regulations.
The Cubs Offense: I don’t want to go on the cart.
Large Man with Dead Body: Oh, don’t be such a baby.
The Dead Collector: I can’t take him.
The Cubs Offense: I feel fine.
Large Man with Dead Body: Oh, do me a favor.
The Dead Collector: I can’t.
Large Man with Dead Body: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won’t be long.
The Dead Collector: I promised I’d be at the Robinsons’. They’ve lost nine today.
Large Man with Dead Body: Well, when’s your next round?
The Dead Collector: Thursday.
The Cubs Offense: I think I’ll go for a walk.
Large Man with Dead Body: You’re not fooling anyone, you know. Isn’t there anything you could do?
The Cubs Offense: I feel happy. I feel happy.
[the Dead Collector glances up and down the street furtively, then silences the Body with his a whack of his club]

Hitting is a part of the game?

Who knew?

Apparently not Lou

if he really did decide to go with 13 pitchers like I read earlier.

We've decided to give them the chance to look like Cy Young.

Theriot has looked particularly bad, he has struck out looking in both of his at-bats. In the first one, he took three strikes, without swinging the bat.

Our pitchers have consistently had better at bats

than all our position players excepting Lee and maybe bradley. Its pathetic

Rich drives one

Not far enough, though. End 5, 2-0 Twins

What's up, all.

Thought I’d stop in and share the misery for a while.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Consider it shared

Harden deserves better for his return.

The more I share, the more it dissipates.

OK, not really.

Yeah, just more of the same.

Decent pitching, no offense. I can’t believe Harden is still in there.

I feel your pain.

It’s been bad this year. It would be nice to score runs once in a while.

Lou said he was going to change things up

and then runs out the same 8 guys in the exact same order.

Jake Fox languishes in Iowa. Aaron Miles and Mike Fontnot start everyday.
