Well, if nothing else, nice to see the old Harden back.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Our offense is probably worse than yesterday.

Our pitching has been good, as a plus. But our bats are dead, once again.

This makes me a sad panda

And I now see that they sent Scales down to make room for Harden? WTH is Lou doing? We are struggling offensively so obviously the answer is to make sure we have no hitters.

It defies logic to me...

I’m sure he’s a nice guy and all, but he was a single A pitcher and we’re holding on to him like he was a first round draft pick with superstar written all over him…

And we don’t even use him, so what exactly do Hendry/Lou hope to accomplish? Is he the Clubhouse Entertainment Director or something?

by sillybilly34 on Jun 13, 2009 2:04 PM CDT reply actions

Im really not so sure

To me Soto and Fukudome are lost causes. Soto had a fluke season (and there have been rumors about why) and Fukudome will be hitting about 240 before the end of the year.

Soriano and Bradley could turn it around, but Soriano is not a good hitter as much as a freak athlete. He is getting older so we should expect hs slumps to get longer and his hot streaks to get shorter.

Lee is what he is. So are Theriot and Fontenot.

Id take offers for anyone right now

The bottom line is that this team is not going anywhere right now and is saddled with some terrible contracts. Trading any and all pieces should at last be an option that should be considereed.

Sori is untradable

and will be the single worst contract in baseball for the next fve seasons.

Bradley is probably untradable too. Might be able to get some value for Z, Marmol and Harden

They are very close to not being in this race. They are 3 1/2 back but are only a .500 team. I am very concerned that the contracts on this team are going to lead to a very very dark period in the next five years.

This is not just a slump or a "slow start"

We are almost 60 games into the season. It’s more likely that these hitters are performing the way they are going to perform for the season.
It’s past time to shake things up and make changes.

by ElHijoDelRonSanto on Jun 13, 2009 2:32 PM CDT reply actions

I can't believe

Miles is going to hit .204, Bradley is going to hit .220 and Soriano is going to hit .230 for the rest of the season. Not possible.

by Not Bruce Froemming on Jun 13, 2009 2:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Seems possible to me

especially Miles and Soriano. Soriano relies entirely on his incredibly strong hands and great ahtleticism. As he gets older he is going to struggle more and more as he ages.

by Ryanocm1 on Jun 13, 2009 2:35 PM CDT up reply actions

That's been my theory also. Maybe I'm wrong and Sori will surprise me.
