At least it looks like Harden is back
if only we could find some hitters

Well, if nothing else, nice to see the old Harden back.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

Finally woke up. How are things looking? (besides the score)

Worse than the score
Wasting another pitching gem
Our offense is probably worse than yesterday.
Our pitching has been good, as a plus. But our bats are dead, once again.

This makes me a sad panda
And I now see that they sent Scales down to make room for Harden? WTH is Lou doing? We are struggling offensively so obviously the answer is to make sure we have no hitters.
"Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living."
Shake up
Lou needs to be fired if this mess continues after the all-star break.

"Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I’ve seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked!" - Homer
Well Scales wasn't really hitting lately
but we certaintly don’t need 13 pitchers especially when 2 are already never used

Lou's senility

It defies logic to me...
I’m sure he’s a nice guy and all, but he was a single A pitcher and we’re holding on to him like he was a first round draft pick with superstar written all over him…
And we don’t even use him, so what exactly do Hendry/Lou hope to accomplish? Is he the Clubhouse Entertainment Director or something?

I know
Our offense will start to click at some point…but hopefully not before another 8 game skid.

Im really not so sure
To me Soto and Fukudome are lost causes. Soto had a fluke season (and there have been rumors about why) and Fukudome will be hitting about 240 before the end of the year.
Soriano and Bradley could turn it around, but Soriano is not a good hitter as much as a freak athlete. He is getting older so we should expect hs slumps to get longer and his hot streaks to get shorter.
Lee is what he is. So are Theriot and Fontenot.
92 pitches for Rich

If we had a serious owner and GM, Lou would be fired at the All Star Break
I’m not blaming Lou at all. That’s what has been historically done to jump start a team. Personally, I think Lou has lost it, though.

He is throwing off-speed, even more off speed, then fast balls at 87 that feel like 97 when you are desperate. The Twins prepared for this trip as if they were facing a AAA team.

Id take offers for anyone right now
The bottom line is that this team is not going anywhere right now and is saddled with some terrible contracts. Trading any and all pieces should at last be an option that should be considereed.
I'd like to unload Sori and Bradley. Then Miles. In that order.
"I'm not much of a chemistry guy, you know. Chemistry to me is a pinch-hit double with the bases loaded"--Jim Frey, Chicago Tribune, 1985.
Sori is untradable
and will be the single worst contract in baseball for the next fve seasons.
Bradley is probably untradable too. Might be able to get some value for Z, Marmol and Harden
Z has a NTC, so that would be tricky.
