"But one thing about Wrigley Field, I puke every time I go there," Guillen said Sunday morning. "That’s just to be honest. And if Cub fans don’t like the way I talk about Wrigley Field, it’s just Wrigley Field. I don’t say anything about the fans or anything now. But Wrigley Field, they got to respect my opinion. That’s the way I feel."

Yes, it got a rise out of some Cubs fans. Not this one, however. Although, I suppose you’ll say that it did get a rise out of me and that I think Michael Barrett’s a hero.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

He'll probably get a rise from some...

…but many of us feel it’s boring and repetitive. I do appreciate the Sox taking two of three from the Brewers, though. That Buerhle home run yesterday was hilarious. Hawk sounded like he needed a cigarette afterward.

Dumb dirty assertion.

I said “MANY would praise his emotional outburst.” I did not say all or every or most. BTW do you deny my assertion?

Regarding the Escobar…the person asserted that “plenty” of players think that AJ is dirty. His main proof was that “Escobar throws at AJ every chance he gets.” First off the poster later admitted that he had no idea if his assertion was even true that Escobar throws at AJ. Second and the main point, even IF Escobar throws at AJ that is not proof of his assertion. Maybe Escobar throws at AJ because they got in a bar fight, and Escobar lost. Maybe Escobar throws at AJ because … well who knows but there is ZERO proof that he does it and that he does it because AJ is dirty.

I think ozzie is awesome. He speaks his mind, and he wins. He has a championship, and last I checked we still dont. If he were our manager we might view him differently.

Dont misconstrue this – I don’t like a LOT of what he says, including this, but its not he doesn’t say it EVERY YEAR during interleague. I just think its excessive to get mad at a guy just doing his thing and why wouldn’t he do it – it seems to usually work.

The thing is...

what’s the point of doing this stuff? It’s not gamesmanship. I really doubt the Cubs give two s**t’s what Ozzie thinks about their park, so what’s the point if it doesn’t impact play on the field?

It’s like he gets off giving the finger to Cub fans every chance he gets, without it being relevent to the game.

I get being antagonistic towards your opponents. I don’t get antagonizing the everyday people who happen to be their fans.

He’s playing to the element of the Sox fans who do that same thing.

And thats why he’ll have his job as long as he wants: he’s won and they love him.

Despite his team being in third place

And immensely underperforming. Not to say we aren’t. Lou shows emotion which is good. Ozzie talks badly about his player to the public and talks about players who aren’t even on the team any more.

I sit at home after the Cubs lose and wanna pound sand but I know I live in a state without that kinda land. I know in my heart Sori isn't a guess hitting hack and that Dero will never be back. Pitching is King, some do say and hopefully Aaron Miles doesn't play in a Cub uniform another day. By October this I know, to the playoffs we are for sure to go. Go Cubbies!!

What compels this man to say such things?

I’m having a hard time understanding why Mr. Guillen feels the need to demean everyone and everything in his path. When I think of the epitome of “respect for the game”, I think of Ozzie as the complete opposite of such.

Ratatouille
The Sox appear Tuesday, so it was only appropriate to ask former Sox third baseman Joe Crede about Ozzie’s Guillen’s nonstop talk about Wrigley Field rats.

“They’re out there,” the new Minnesota third baseman said. “I’ve heard them out there in the [right-field batting] cage.”

Pandering to Twins fans who filled Wrigley ...

… the last 3 games? Twins fans don’t have negative views of Wrigley or the Cubs that I’m aware of.

The media? Yeah, they’re the ones who asked Crede about the whole “rats” thing. It’s not like Crede brought it up out of the blue. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the local media hoped to get this going with Ozzie too.

That manager can continue to say what he wants

and the same goes for his GM and some of his players. It won’t change the fact the team that plays 9 miles south of Clark and Addison:

   has always been,
   is currently,
   and will always be…

…an afterthought not only in MLB but CHICAGO baseball.

As long as these clowns continue to try to draw attention to themselves by putting down others, it simply verifies what many Cubs fans already know: They’re beyond envy.

These clowns think putting down the Cubs will elevate them. It doesn’t, it never has nor will it ever elevate them.

And the most sad part; it trickles down to a sizable portion of their fan base. Those folks are more interested in knowing the Cubs lost than what the Twinkies, Tribe or Cats did that day. Pathetic, how pathetic.

Cubs By The Numbers

Cubs By The Numbers is a history of the ballclub by uniform number, but the biographies help trace the history of our beloved team in a new way. For everyone who's a Cubs fan, anyone who ever wore the uniform is like family. Cubs By The Numbers reintroduces readers to some of their long-lost ancestors, even ones they think they already know.
