Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I totally disagree with the tone and title of this post, but the pics are kinda staggering about the volumes of trash left behind after a game at Wrigley.

I'd bet that it's a similar story at every ballpark in the Major (and minor) Leagues.

You're right about the tone.

I suspect you would indeed find the same thing at any stadium.

You would.

Its not like you see trash cans everywhere (down all the aisles, etc.) this isnt Cedar Point (if anyone has been to that amusement park before you may know what I mean about their placement of a trash can every 5 feet!)

People are horrible slobs ...

… that’s not a matter of being a Cubs fan or any other fan group. The regular festive party atmosphere probably contributes as does the crowded general admission seating.

IMHO if it’s a mess after games, it reflects on people in general. We need that Public Service ad from the 70’s of the Native American with a tear on his cheek because of pollutions and garbage spewed.

Well, the difference is

People are paid to clean the ballpark up after each game, and there aren’t trash receptacles handy. Littering on the street is an entirely different issue.

AL

ISNT THAT ONE PIC IN UR SECTION? IS IT THAT BAD???

by Harry Seaward on Jun 16, 2009 7:41 AM CDT reply actions

That's not my section.

And as it says above, most ballparks look like that after a game.

I hope Al's answer calms you down.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

It's amazing what you can see

when you have traditional bleachers. There’s no backs to the seats to block the previous row’s undercarriage.
