I thought about adding Lou's quote from the other day
“I wouldn’t know the difference between a steroid and a reefer.”
Who would you want, right now
at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, 2 outs down by 1 with a man on?

I’m not sure if his walks or Danks’ K count was higher today.

This blown rally will be rock bottom, they mess up worse the next inning.

This had bad news written all over it when Lee let Danks 1st pitch go right down the middle while looking at it
Its games that start like this
That really make it hard to be a positive polly
"Every player should be accorded the privilege of at least one season with the Chicago Cubs. That's baseball as it should be played - in God's own sunshine. And that's really living."
We Suck
Yeah…what would this team do in the playoffs anyway…except add a couple more thousand hearts to their broken heart collection.
Here butnot able to watch the game because I'm working...
sounds like that might be a good thing. :(

Listening to Ron today is making me sad...
I’m leaving for O’s-Mets in a few…it’s a bobblehead night at Camden Yards. Rainy here though.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

FYI
Old general stores that had canned goods on high shelves behind the counter. When someone ordered a “can of corn” or such, the shop owner would use a stick and scoot a can off the high shelf and easily catch it. Hence the phrase “can of corn” or easy as catching a can of corn.

I don't think that's going to work.
I usually don’t talk crazy like this, but I really wonder whether they should DL Soriano for 15 days and give LF to Fox.
I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

If anything..
…perhaps GM-for-life Hendry will have to re-learn what he once learned and then un-learned about offense.
His default position is fine: Most of what happens out there is decided by pitching. Hard to argue against that.
Unfortunately, as we’re seeing this year, pitching alone can’t do it all. He never seems to be able to keep that knowledge learned. It’s like teaching him that trying to catch lightning in a bottle ISN’T a good Plan A, or that players with bad health and production histories tend to have bad health and production when they get here. He just can’t be relied on to retain said knowledge.
Oh well, at least there’s some sense of urgency coming out of the front office right now…………………………oh, wait,…………….nevermind.

You do it
You do exactly what I’m being asked by you not to do. You say they have a chance, day after day after day, despite the huge pile of evidence to the contrary.
You shut up about the positive flowerly stuff and I’ll quit the negative stuff. If you don’t want to hear the reality of where this team is and where it’s headed, I don’t want to hear the fictional account of how this team is headed to the playoffs.
Deal? I’m not guessing so, but Deal?
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
no, of course not.
I’m here supporting my team. When’s the last time I said the team was going to the playoffs? I say “soriano needs to get out of his slump.” I say “Miles is playing very badly.” I say “they need to start hitting better.”
What I DON’T say is “game over” in the TOP OF THE FREAKIN’ SECOND INNING.
YOU do that.
It’s June 17th. There’s three and a half months of baseball left. I don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know what’s going to happen. They could go on a run and win 20 games in a row. We all know Sori could go on a hot streak. We all know Bradley has the numbers to get a lot of hits. Or, they could lose 100 games this season, if they can’t work their way out of the slump.
The difference is, I hope for our guys to win and YOU DO NOT.
That’s not me taking it personally. That’s the damn FACTS.
You say you’re a cubs fan, but CUBS FANS WANT THEIR TEAM TO WIN. They ROOT FOR THEIR TEAM.
I’ve yet to see a post where you do that. So, no. I do not do exactly what you’re being asked by me not to do.

I am actually curious Krummy

Does it matter?
I am a Cub fan. Believe it or not. But either way, it doesn’t really matter why or when I’m here. I don’t call anyone names, I don’t piss anyone off by trolling. My analysis of this team, which has been spot on, might not be enjoyed by all, but I think that is part of the “good and bad” this site offers.
So you may say they have a chance, I may say they don’t. At the end of the day, I still have not read a logical reason why differing opinions, presented on this forum, can achieve such an immediate and harsh reaction out of some. I just don’t get it.
Who needs a stinkin' tag line? What are they for anyway?
I have not called you any names either.
I am slowly going into the negative camp, but if I thought they have no chance I wouldn’t be here.
I’m not challenging your fandom, and you have a right to be here. I was just curious if you actually believe they have NO chance.
How about our starting pitching, that is pretty good? Eh? And if(pretty big IF) our offense comes alive then we can be competetive. I think we just expect last year to happen again, and they are def not last year’s team.

He's never been much of a first pitch swinger. Pitchers know that, and usually groove the first one.

(DeRo is on pace to have an even better season this year)
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

I know, but this inability to consistently throw strikes is what is keeping Demp from moving into the elite pitchers
in the NL. I’ve got plenty of complaints about the offense, but I just wish Demp would pitch to contact a little more.
I don't give a rat's a** right now if demp moves into the elite list or sh** list.

I wasn’t sold on Dempster last year and I’m still not. He’s not a big game pitcher and walks way to many guys.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. If this team is going to have a shot
Lou probably has to go. I think he has lost his fire, but there is of course plenty of blame to go around. Mid-season, though, one of the best ways to turn it around is to get rid of the manager.
Come on, he's tried everything he knows!!
What a joke! The team is dying to score runs, yet he won’t shake up the lineup and play Fox or Hoff!

I stand by that suggestion. Clear some salary, lots of it. Reload with tradable youth that can be used to acquire talent this offseason. Then make trade and FA acquisitions after the season.

There’s no way to clear lots of salary right now.
