Dontrelle Willis To DL Again For Anxiety Disorder
It's a real shame what's happened to Dontrelle. What this means is that the Cubs will not face any LHP starters in the series vs. the Tigers next week -- meaning, likely, no opportunities for Jake Fox to DH in that series.

Anxiety disorders...
Are real and they can be debilitating, not really a joking matter.
Someday we'll go all the way...

You know, back in the day it didn't matter what side of the plate you hit from.
Then those Goldurn Mets started platooning in 1969 and it’s been “all about the match-ups” ever since. I say if Jake is hitting well, DH him anyway.

If he is so debilitated he should retire
He didn’t have anxiety when he was effective, did he? I don’t mean to oversimplify, but, sheeeeeesh! He demanded a new contract and he went straight into the tank. He has millions of dollars, he’ll be okay. I’ll joke a little. And, since he has millions, and an agent that wants him to get another contract he’ll have plenty of people looking after him.

Right.
Zack Greinke had the same thing; he’s been successfully treated for it and is doing well on the field. I hope Dontrelle can come back. He has tremendous talent.

Didn't Grienke
Walk away for a season or something? I thought I heard that he did it because the Royals were so bad.

Dontrelle Willis has lost 7 MPH off his fastball since his top days in Florida
That has a LOT to do with his struggles. And “anxiety disorder” can be brought on by being paid a lot of money under the terms of a big new contract and so underperforming.

Thank you for your pop psychology diagnosis.
But without knowing the details, you are likely incorrect.

Well his mechanics are trash
He’s doing everything wrong. Every single thing that could screw with your control is there.

+1
I’m beginning to think the only reason he was effective is because major league hitters weren’t used to his weird pitching motion. Now they’re used to it, and shelling him.

His mechanics were always bad
Look at the film of him with the Marlins in 2003 during his rookie season.

I think in the old days, if a guy had any kind of psychological disorder...
they’d just run him out of the game, no explanation necessary. Jimmy Piersall had his problems but, still, people thought of him just as a “nut.” It wasn’t really until Jim Eisenreich was stricken with Tourette’s and panic disorder that the game really started thinking about caring for its players who had head problems.
Willis seems like such a nice guy. I hope he gets through this.
Joe, you coulda made us proud!

The problem is fans don't care if pro ball players have a head problem
Mrs. Cubnational has “head problems” that have changed our lives so unbelievably I can’t get into it. That’s the way it is and I’m dealing with it. We deliberately have to stay out of the limelight of my chosen vocation to help her with it and that’s forced changes I never thought would occur into my life. But that’s how it is.
Fans don’t give a rip. They expect baseball players to be gods or machines who pander to our every armchair taste, feed our tribal egos, and make us feel superior.
They don’t give a rat’s rear end that their raw human talent is encased in raw humanity itself which nobody gives a flip about .. all they want is results so they can crow or cuss about it. Pro baseball gives them a shot, and when they fail, we crap on them.
That’s all people are worth nowadays to us. It’s why the world has a head problem .. that begins with the heart.
Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!
