Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

On May 17th, Conan ran across Wrigley being chased by security guards. He used it in his open of the Tonight Show last night. I thought it was pretty hilarious. FF to 2:00 to see it, but the whole open is pretty good.

Good luck Conan... you rock!

Pretty hilarious.

Great song, too.

I've committed to tweeting about the Cubs for the rest of the season. (Does that sound as ridiculous as I think it does?) Anyway, if you're on Twitter, you can follow me here.

I think Al mentioned something about this a few weeks ago.

I loved it. Conan’s great. Problem is, I love Dave & Conan…and am glad to see Jay gone. Which to watch?

Ya, Conan.

Never saw why people like Dave or Jay, really.

by bakester on Jun 2, 2009 12:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Dave's wise beyond his years.

He can professional rip a celebrity apart (“Why ARE you here?”) without demeaning them, and always puts together a comedic show that’s mature. Leno, not so much.

You never saw why people like Dave or Jay?

Really? I can understand Jay, he isn’t funny, can’t conduct an interview to save his life, and is annoying. Dave on the other hand is witty, original, hilarious, an excellent interviewer; the true heir to the Tonight Show throne. Dave got screwed out of it when Johnny retired, (Carson actually wanted Dave to be the host, not Leno). I like Conan, and now I can actually watch the Tonight Show again, thank God Jay is gone!

I'm a truth teller, I'm a risk taker, I'm like Johnny Cash - I walk the line...

by Jimmyeatworld on Jun 2, 2009 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree with you guys on Jay...

And I can see maybe some of Dave’s wit, but that wit never made me laugh. Original? I think when you got Conan around it is a bit difficult to throw that word out to Dave. Dave’s interviews are better that Jay’s but most of the jokes would come out of Dave himself, where Conan does a fantastic job of getting the funny out of his guests.

There may be a consensus here about Jay

But Leno has won the ratings battle for 13 years straight.

…could’ve just picked Conan up by the seat of his pants and dangled him over the field – y’know, like the cat.

NO!!! THAT IS NOT A JOKE!

You can seriously damage a Conan by lifting them up by the seat of their pants! You’ll be hearing from PETC!!!

As well as hotel stays for Conan, the crew, etc. Probably talking 6 figures.

here’s me ’n reed ’n conan. pretty cool to meet him! <http://twitpic.com/6g20y

Yes running the wrong way

to get from Wrigley from Trib Tower. You would think someone would have caught it.

Reminds of the first season of the Bob Newhart show where the opening credits had him getting off at the WRONG El stop for the bldg he worked in. They got so many complaints from Chicagoans that they reshot for the 2nd season.

Also...

… he ran into the main entrance at Clark & Addison and then came out of the gate on Sheffield. I guess he could have run under the concourse, but he should probably have come in at the Addison & Sheffield gate to run on the field from that side.

The movie that drove me nuts was BACKDRAFT

In one scene they went the wrong way on a major downtown street ( I think it was Wacker). After a fireman is critically burned in a fire they take him to hospital ALL THE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CITY ( and no they did not have some great burn unit)
but my favorite mistake for Chicago natives was referring to corrupt politician as a “councilman” when everyone in Chicago knows we have ALDERMAN.

When Harry Met Sally

had a similar problem. They left the University of Chicago (on the south side) to drive to New York… and drove towards downtown.

by Hilary Lee on Jun 2, 2009 4:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Wouldn't that be north, though?

Except

New York is east. And to go east, you have to drive around that lake first . . .

by madcow256 on Jun 2, 2009 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions

No, the scene showed them driving...

… SOUTH on Lake Shore Drive towards downtown.

I was just in London

and the people there must have been watching that movie because they were all going the wrong way. Good thing someone was nice enough to warn me with writing on the ground.

What I liked about it

was that it set a tone very different from Jay. No way Leno ever shows himself in such physical activity. Even his “Jaywalking” bits take place in a very small space. Conan opened it way up. He literally “hit the ground running.”

I liked the bit

and the punchline. The rest of the show, not so much. I’ll stick to Dave and Craig Ferguson.
