ted is pitching silly
Ramlee Zamfukusoridero
Ted Lilly doesn't pitch
The ball runs away from his hand in terror.
This line from a movie, television show or other piece of popular culture pretty much sums up my entire personality.
Greetings from Her Majesties United Kingdom
How about this WINNING? Feels good, doesn’t it?
The day we lose our will to fight - Is the day we lose our Freedom.
It would feel better...
…if we could do some winning sometime before the last at-bat this time.
At least, it would feel better for my blood pressure.
Concur with that.
But after the past month, I’ll take what we can get.
I’m mad right now – nextdef isn’t working on my mlb.tv so i’m having to put up with a bad “sd” signal.

Just joined the game thread
and listening to the radio — does anyone know where Ron is?
If the Cubs were an international soccer team they'd be called Scotland.
god bless you

Definitely needs improvement
There’s a line between aggressive and unwise baserunning, and it seems like they’ve been crossing it too much lately.
Dumb play
Just plain dump. Short bloop to right, good arm, number 5 hitter coming to bat. Just plain dumb.

Looked like he expected to reach easily
And got surprised by Quade’s slide sign.

Lilly's being a good sport

He wants to give them a chance. Lilly has graciousness and mercy and is forgiving...

He'd have to convince Theriot to go to second, then trade Fontenot...

With Rami back
Fonty can back Theriot up at 2B.

OT: Is there a reason why (according to Ballhawk) the Cubs didn't take BP
today?

Long game followed by an early start
And it’s warm out. Lou probably didn’t wanna wear ’em out.

Fontenot
Looks absolutely lost at the plate. I don’t know how many times in the last couple of weeks he has left the plate just shaking his head after another strikeout.

I noticed that too.

He needs to sit
He’s still not an everyday player, but Lou still trots him out there 6 out of 7 games.
He should get a breather next weekend vs. the Sox.

Lou
Trots him out there six out of seven games because he has to.
When Ramirez gets back, you will see a domino effect. The question is, who will be the last domino, i.e., sent down or released?

Not much.
The bad guys lead 1-0. But it’s only in the third inning (which just ended), so the Cubs have time to mount another comeback.

I'll take a win anyway we can get them.
I might have to take some medication, but if they win most games by walkoffs, I’ll take it.
Winning the close ones is something that will prepare them for later in the season.

it's early and we're only down 1-0. I've got the fever.

Can anyone
On this team actually take a 2-0 or 3-1 pitch? Bradley’s pitch was closer to his ankles than his knees, but he still swung at it.

Wow. Bradley threw his helmet down as he crossed first base in anger.
Hey, gameboard is passionate—that’s good—but everyone gets an out sometimes.

He should have thrown his helmet
He knows he swung at ball four. He stoud absolutely no chance of getting as hit on that pitch. He helped out the pitcher.

bad baserunning and swinging at ball four, what else will he do
by jesus christos on Jun 20, 2009 12:57 PM CDT reply actions
I actually saw the baserunning play and thought I would have made that attempt, too.
Just didn’t have the correct result.

with one out
yes, but with two outs you simply cannot go unless you will be safe standing up.
yeah, but it wasn't hit hard and I thought he would've made it easy too.
Just a really good throw from Choo. And a bad slide, too.
Say this much for big league baseball - it is beyond question the greatest conversation piece ever invented in America. ~Bruce Catton
You cant go
if youre only going to make it easily if the guy makes a bad throw. Its not like Bradley was strolling in and then fell.
He was out by quite a bit. Really bad baserunning because it doesnt get you anything.
Trying my hardest to defend the guy, I'm a fan. :)
It would’ve been closer with a good slide, he kind of just fell. weird. But you have a point with making the last out at third while he’s in scoring position anyway.
I just like to see more aggressiveness on the basepaths with our scoring problems lately. Sometimes being aggressive helps, sometimes it hurts.

I like the aggresiveness at well
I think that is a good move, even if he is thrown out, with one out. So to that extent I agree with you.
Sometimes though, you need to play aggressive but with your head.
No
You never make the first or third out at third. It was bad baserunning. There was not that much to be gained at that point by going to third. Risk was too high.

On Choo's hit
Every time I see a pitcher make one of those backhanded flips to first, I think of Scot Eyre doing that on a Rafael Furcal bunt and Derek Lee breaking his wrist because of it. DLEE has never been the same.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. -- George Santayana (1863-1952)
Look before
and after that. He drove the ball more, hit more with authority, the average was better. It takes a long time to recover from a wrist injury. I am a big DLee fan.

No not really
I do like to take a critical approach to the game. I give credit whre credit is due.

I will add
I think that swing he put on Woody’s pitch yesterday was one of the best I have seen from him in a while.

Yeah. Nice fast swing.

Some really bad at bats so far
Fontenot and Hill swung at balls and took strike threes
Milton has to be looking dead red and instead he swings at ball four. With LEE right behind him, and on fire.
Plenty of time of course, but dont like the approach
Garko Ks. One down!

I think that's the problem
He hasn’t been focused at the plate, and I think part of it is because he’s had to learn a new infield position.
Nice!
