"Moneyball" -- "Stoplighted" by Hollywood....
Why am I not surprised? I never thought this would translate to a feature film.

I agree
I didn’t see how they were going to transfer that book to the big screen, great book though

Word around Hollywood is...
… Amy Pascal did this simply because she could. There’s some stupid, typical political Hollywood infighting going on and she’s pissed at some unnamed person or company, so she stopped the film just as it was to start shooting. It’s got nothing to do with any script, or if the book really translates to a movie. She literally just did this to be a bitch.

Wow.
I love how Pascal couches in it honoring Soderbergh’s new version of the film, which differs from the script which was green-lit, by allowing him to shop his new version to other studios. The catch, of course, is that if Soderbergh can’t find another backer, the movie goes back to Sony and the players will be reassigned. Essentially, Pascal is screwing Soderbergh while claiming to be respectful of his vision.
That’s some cold Hollywood politics for you. I’m guessing Soderbergh won’t be doing any pictures with Sony in the near future.

I can tell you...
… that a lot of productions are being cancelled these days because of lack of funding.

It's too bad most of the recent relases did't get cancelled for lack of a plot, acting and originality.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

Very true...
… I’m seeing a LOT of out of work support people, i.e. set painters, production and the like. What makes this so, well, bitchy, is they were literally due to start Monday. EVERYTHING was lined up. Sony still has to pay a large number of people for doing nothing.

The casting crew was doing a great job of finding baseball players though.
I was part of the auditions and I saw some dead on character doubles. They really wanted to make a legit baseball movie. They also had alot of people in place to get this off the ground, now I wonder if it ever will.
