I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. what's his

THACO?

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. by drewishdrewid on Jun 24, 2009 9:06 PM CDT up reply actions

THACO stands for: To Hit Armor Class 0. According to your class and level, your THACO will differ. THACO is used when your character makes an attack. If his opponent’s armor class is 0 then you must roll your character’s THACO or higher on 1D20 to make a successful hit on his opponent. If you have a 3rd level fighter, his THACO is 18. So you must roll an 18 or higher on 1D20 for your fighter to hit his opponent. If the monster you are battling has an armor class of 4 then your THACO will be lowered by 4 points, thus leaving you to roll a 14 or higher on 1D20. If your roll is successful, then your character hits the monster.

I think Detroit has a THACO of 19.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. Strike (N.)

The top of the strike zone is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the batter’s shoulders and the top of the uniform pants. The bottom of the strike zone is a line at the hollow beneath the kneecap. The right and left boundaries of the strike zone correspond to the edges of home plate. A pitch that touches the outer boundary of the zone is as much a strike as a pitch that is thrown right down the center. A pitch at which the batter does not swing and which does not pass through the strike zone is called a ball.

I can't decide if

it’s better or worse that Santo isn’t there. At least when Ronny has his stroke in the radio booth, there will be people there to help him.

I'm a Cubs FANATIC. They are my team, through thick and thin. When they play over their heads, and when they play under the gutter. When they win the division, and then get swept in the division series. When they get no-hitters and when they blow no-hitters. And some day, when they go all the way and get those rings. This is the kind of fan I am.

I guess I can’t judge it until I try it. But vinegar and chocolate doesn’t sound like a winning combination. :)

Hey Dragon – where in Japan are you from, btw?

Wow!

Beautiful! How many people live on Okinawa? My only familiarity with it is from the war, and that US troops are still stationed there.

Holy shit...

I know our offense has been bad but I didn’t know it’s been THAT bad. Good Lord. .223 team BA and dead last in the majors. Pathetic.

I cringe to think what it must be with RISP

Okay, I need to get Cubs baseball outta my head for a while… goodnight all

Er, guess I misread it

Those are RISP stats. See what these losses do to my brain? It’s not good.

To describe...

That’s the CUBS RISP numbers.. That’s why we’re no good right now.. Exactly why. (well, that on the relief walks, which we’re also dead last in)

by DisCUBbobulated on Jun 24, 2009 9:33 PM CDT up reply actions

That combined with the lack of bullpen pitching....

Will make this long miserable summer unless things turn around fast….not that the lousy pen was the issue tonight…as it sure was last night….

The best defense is a good offense.....Lou Pinella...still hasn't managed the Cubs to a post season win. D. Lee still doesn't have a post seasson RBI for Cubs...ditto for Soriano

I hate to be the one to break this to you

but I’m pretty sure it’s not your fault :-)
Maybe they need to start trying some of those things.

The pen isn't WSW capable in my opine.......

but not the problem tonight…….THE PROBLEM IS THIS:

Cubs RISP: 1-15 (M Fontenot 0-2, J Fox 0-3, G Soto 0-1, A Soriano 0-1, K Fukudome 1-3, M Hoffpauir 0-3, M Bradley 0-2)

The best defense is a good offense.....Lou Pinella...still hasn't managed the Cubs to a post season win. D. Lee still doesn't have a post seasson RBI for Cubs...ditto for Soriano

Becker Rerun

I blame the becker rerun on WGN. That I knew if was a rerun is so depressing, I can only laugh at the results tonight.

Becker and that old lady… hot times in old town tonight.

These have been two tough losses. Hard fought. Lost.

I prefer these to the sucking we saw earlier.

and also, don't wait til Ramirez returns to make moves.

Bush and Hendry are official stupid and should be fired right away if they can’t see the flaws in this team.

Seeing the flaws

and being able to do something are two different things. Between likely not having a lot of cash to throw around, not many sellers yet, and not wanting to give up good prospects, I suspect his hands are largely tied.
Which isn’t to say he isn’t trying, we just haven’t seen any results, and probably won’t.

two things

maybe we should hope for Cubs loses. The opposite isn’t working. Lastly, completely OT, i hope the Bulls draft BJ Mullens. It would be awfully nice to have a seven foot center controlling the paint.

Still stranding runners

Saw a little of the game tonight, not happy about the result. But based on my day, I can’t complain.

Got a call last night that I had to stay home today and wait by my e-mail, voicemail and cell to see if I still had a job. Well, I still have a job but it was a lot of stress today.

Only 3 1/2 back in last June. The division is up for grabs!

by PhillyCub on Jun 24, 2009 10:21 PM CDT reply actions

lou in todays postgame:
“What is there to talk about?” Piniella said. “Ozzie [Guillen, White Sox manager] had a great statement — when you have too many meetings, you have a bad team. Good teams don’t have meetings. They go out there and play and get the job done and they win baseball games. If the manager has to have too many meetings, there’s a lot of problems.”

“What are you going to do? Keep running them out there and sooner or later they’ll hit,”
“Maybe we’ll draw the names out of a hat,” Piniella said. “That might be the thing to do. Leave a couple guys who are doing their jobs in their positions and just draw some names and see where they fall. We can’t do any worse.”

i really dont know how to react. the cubs havent been hitting/scoring for well over a month
